As the world is reduced to nuclear ash, sing along!

“Fire and fury.” Got it.  Our anti-North Korea strategy is to start talking like North Korea.  Yeah, that’ll work.

    Love the hook.
But this is the ear worm I can’t rid myself of today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIoBrob3bjI

What you really want in a nuclear situation like this is a president who, quite openly, makes comments that indicate he can’t decide between flattering, negotiating with, or annihilating his overseas rival. Then, you’ve gotta get the generals who serve him, the CIA director, and his secretary of state to make wildly contradictory statements within the span of a few days about whether the US wants regime change or can live with the status quo so long as the opponent moderates its behavior slightly. Everybody go ahead and do or say whatever they feel like, without any coordination or thought about the consequences. Straight out of the JFK Cuban Missile Crisis handbook, amiright?

Right now I’ll call this a school yard pissing match. Both Kim and Trump’s statements left quite a bit of wiggle room – Trump use of the word “threats” didn’t specify verbal or physcial threats and Kim’s statement said they are “examining” a pre-emptive strike on Guam.

Having said that, Trump’s comments were apparently off the cuff without anyone in the administration’s prior knowledge, so I’m not underestimating the possibility Trump ad-libs us into a nuclear war.
