    How was the trip?

A friend of mine has travelled around the world. He was telling me in all his travels, when his trip was coming to a close he always looked forward to coming home.

Except one – His trip to Jamaica. He just did not want to leave.

Jamaica sadly is a place I cannot ever visit- as a gay man my life would be in actual direct danger there. Other than that sounds pretty chill.

I have had long debates with friends of mine that travel to Jamaica every year. The first debate was when they told me I should try and buy a cottage there. When I told them I wouldn’t visit a country that persecuted LGBTQ people – that it was actually dangerous for my kind – they responded with disbelief. So I educated them.

They still visit there every year. But at least now they are aware of the homophobia they are supporting with their tourist dollars. And they certainly know better than to brag about their winter vacation around me.

I’m surprised that the K family would visit a country where persecution of a people is so rampant and obvious. For example – I would never visit a nation where women are treated like second class citizens….

Sorry, but I don’t take civics lessons from someone who uses a false name.

But where we were, there were multiple same sex couples. We travel to Jamaica and work with a charity that builds schools in impoverished areas.

Welcome back. It’s 4 million below zero, windy as hell and supposed to snow over the next few days. Go Canada!
