People asked me why I liked him. People asked me why I defended him.

Because he’s not the monster he’s made out to be, I told them.

He will surprise you, I said. Watch.

Who among us would have thought this would be in reference to the United States of America? Not myself. Well done Premier Ford.

  2. Gyor says:

I hope your right for Ontario’s sake.

    • Fred from BC says:

Could have been worse. The NDP could have won, and then finished the destruction of Ontario’s economy that Wynn began.

      • Art says:

Give it a rest Fred. Yes Wynne wanted the economy destroyed so badly. To what end? Get a grip already.

        • Fred from BC says:

My grip on reality is just fine, thanks. You need to stop interpreting every criticism as a personal attack on your beliefs.

I didn’t say they would be doing it on purpose. Ideologues (of all stripes) just can’t help themselves…they do all the wrong things for the right reasons, then blame everyone else when it all goes to hell.

Fred, lay off ‘The Rebel’ for awhile. ‘Dem Unions and dem socialists!’ Aren’t a threat.

          • Fred from BC says:

“Fred, lay off ‘The Rebel’ for awhile.”

What’s “The Rebel”? If it’s a place that teaches proper punctuation and capitalization, you might benefit from a visit (or viewing) yourself, Art…

“You’re” FWIW. signed, Grammar Grinch. The tentacles of a mangled education system are as insidious as those tragic malignancies.

    Hmmm…….

Trump justified the steel and aluminium tariffs as being an issue of national security. Using that justification meant he was able to apply them without congress and it would be nearly if not completely impossible to challange them with the WTO or any other body.

But yesterday in a tweet, he claimed he applied the tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminium because of our dairy industry supply management.

That would make the steel and aluminium tariffs illegal, no?

  4. Ted H says:

I guess we’ll have to wait and see what kind of a premier he will be. I’m prepared to be pleasantly surprised but I’m not holding my breath.

  5. Ronald O'Dowd says:

    Warren,

We will find out whether his government can be productive and successful. It’s only fair play to give Ford the benefit of the doubt, for now.

..cdns need to pull together ..this is good ,

  7. Sean says:

And as soon as he gets his good pal Charles McVety to redesign the sex ed curriculum, we’ll know we were right all along.

  8. Robert White says:

Doug Ford is a good family man, and a good CANUCK.

    Go get em’, Doug!

  9. Peter Seville says:

Ford said he would have voted for Trump if he could have. No?

    • Art says:

      Perhaps he’s seen the light.

      • Fred from BC says:

Nope. He’s just advocating for his own country and his own people, just like Trump (and every other politician in the world).
        That’s his job.

        • Art says:

I get that, but when you are living in a piece in a bigger world it’ll be hard for Trump to explain why so many people will be unemployed in just a few months. Economic isolationism will only get you so far.

          • Fred from BC says:

The US economy is booming, unemployment hasn’t been this low in nearly 20 years and Trump’s approval ratings continue to climb (despite all the left-wing predictions of imminent economic doom). Could be that he knows something you don’t.

Anyone who seriously thinks that Canada can come out on top in a trade war with the United States is seriously deluded, I think.

We need to negotiate for the best deal we can get, just like Trump is doing.

Had a conversation late this morning with someone this morning.

She said if Justin wants to really punch Trump in the face, he’d put tariffs on Canadian radio-pharmaceuticals, ie radioactive isotopes used in medical diagnostics and treatments.

Canada is apparently the USA’s largest supplier of radio-pharmaceuticals by a wide margin.

  11. Art says:

I was quite surprised. Since his supporters also believe him to be a Canadian Trump. But it’s a long slog to 2022, but as an NDP supporter I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

    • Matt says:

      Actually, no.

It’s his haters who think he’s a Canadian Trump.

      • Art says:

Speaking to a lot of friends who voted PC think he’s a Canadian Trump. There’s even merchandise you can buy with ‘Make Ontario Great Again’ emblazoned on the front.
