    That’s quite the typo.

    • DF says:

It’s not a typo. That’s what “mainstream” media are actually asking.

      • Luke says:

Holy shit, are you fucking kidding? My only conclusion from the clip Warren posted was that the NYT had a typo directly contrary to the preceding paragraphs’ content about extreme positions of certain grotesque republican subhumans. (Of course these assholes are humans. Humankind just has some really nasty members.)

  2. Eastern Rebellion says:

To be fair, Republican leadership does not support these loathsome individuals. A cursory google search will show that. I agree it is a sad commentary on their district that they were able to appear on the ballot.

    • Fred from BC says:

The Republicans also CAN NOT STOP their nomination, since the party leader is not required to approve their candidacy (unlike here in Canada).

    It’s happening again isn’t it?

  4. Sean McLaughlin says:

Steve King is a congressman from Iowa who was last re-elected in 2016, AFTER making some of his most nakedly racist and inflammatory public statements. Over the past decade he’s gone from immigration hardliner to an open white supremacist. He might not have the support of the Republican leadership, but I’ve Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas defend him on TV over these specific views in recent months. He has other Republican allies, too, Rep. Louis Gohmert of Texas off the top of my head. No wonder so many thoughtful conservatives are leaving the Republican Party.

  5. Eric Weiss says:

That doesn’t include the half-dozen or so open white supremacists that lost their primaries.

True, the GOP leadership denounced them, and I’ll even say that I doubt the majority of Republicans would endorse their ideologies, but what does it say about their party that these openly racist assholes feel comfortable enough to run for office under the Republican flag in the first place?

” what does it say about their party that these openly racist assholes feel comfortable enough to run for office under the Republican flag in the first place?”

It says absolutely nothing. Remember the KKK Grand Wizard who claimed to have donated 15,000 dollars to Hillary and the Democrats before the election?

(the Democrats, of course, being the party that fought a war to continue slavery and whose members actually founded the KKK …)

What did that say about the Democrats, then?
