Very sad. A true gentleman, like Republicans used to be.
We will toast our Walker’s Point neighbour in Kennebunk in the Summer.

Welcome to the New World Disorder, Mr. CIA.
Oh happy day!

Indeed. First John McCain, and now Bush Sr.. Somewhat symbolic for the demise of the noble Republican party under its current horrid leadership.
I know he was pretty conciliatory about the ending of the Cold War and didn’t seem to gloat so that’s in the plus column for him. But he (along with Reagan before him) dragged his heels on doing anything about the devastating HIV pandemic that killed so many thousand and thousands and that’s a BIG fucking tick in the minus column.
And I imagine you thinks it’s “only” brilliant politics but his 1988 campaign definitely applied a heaping helping of racism to the public realm with all that Lee Atwater/Willie Horton horse shit.
Don’t get me wrong, anyone is miles better than the POS in the White House currently but some of us are a little skeptical of the hagiography going on.
Agreed. Probably the best foreign policy President since FDR. But fair to poor on the domestic front.
