Programming notice

Upcoming program change: for three reasons – the mass murder committed by a white supremacist in New Zealand and its global fallout; upcoming legal action against the racist Your Ward News in Toronto; and my related decision to shine a spotlight on Maxine Bernier and his alt-right political party – I am going to be spending less time, on my various platforms, on the #LavScam issue in the coming weeks, and much more time on the resurgence of racism, homophobia, misogyny and anti-Semitism everywhere. It’s a subject I am rumoured to know something about.

#LavScam is not going to go away – and, with the upcoming Norman trial, the issues that it gives rise to are going to get even more important. The Ethics Commissioner is investigating; the Opposition is unrelenting; the OECD is monitoring; the Prime Minister and his senior staff have lawyered up – because they can clearly hear the footsteps of the Mounties.

So: for me, a slight programming change. I will continue to occasionally highlight developments in the ongoing #LavScam scandal – but my priority, for the next while, will be a returned focus on the growing problem of organized hate.

It’s a big, big problem.

You’re totally right Warren. It’s a huge problem. It’s fueled and continues to fuel Trump, Brexit and the Yellow Vests. It’s tempting Scheer and it’s already consumed that moron Bernier with electoral promises. It’s been ignored and / or downplayed too much in the media allowing it to grow into the cancer that it now is. In my opinion, next to climate change (which will kill us all – racists included) this is the biggest political issue of the day. It’s already led to tragic bloodshed. It could lead to war. Go get them.

This New Zealand massacre is horrible, and so sad. Can we also report on the other massacres happening around the world too? 46 Christians were massacred less than a week ago in Nigeria. Lets shine the light on all hate that is promoted around the world

Will you also be addressing Christianophobia? There is weekly attacks on Christians all over the world, yet, it is rarely seen in the media.

You have a proud history of fearlessly treading where few dare to tread, so this pivot is perfectly in character — and might I add, a true reflection of your Dad’s teachings. As almost always, good on you!

Good for you, and everyone else I suspect. All this is something that goes on but is invisible in my daily life.

New Zealand has a law titled The Films, Videos and Publications Classification Act 1993, that is the former CHRA Section 13 on steroids. There are no exceptions for artistic merit, professional journalism, academic research etc. The motive of the accused is also irrelevant. For example, by quoting from or reproducing sections of “Your Ward News”, even for the purpose of demonstrating what a vile publication it is, you would be violating that law if you were in NZ, and would be just as guilty as Mr. Sears or Mr. St. Germain.
