THE GRAND WIZARD ELICTS A RESPONSE

  1. His charge is almost funny. I suppose as opposed to his likely support for “Far Right” authoritarians.

Something tells me the CPC misses him much…

I think you can also make a case that the media did a lousy job of doing due diligence on Bernier. They had years to find out about the guy while he was a MP and cabinet minister, never mind the leadership race.

For most people like me who follow politics, back then Bernier seemed like a guy with some outspoken views (mostly on economic matters), but it wasn’t like he was some Trump wannabe or anything like that.

      Doc,

It seems neither of us read Julie Couillard’s book.

    • Joseph Taylor says:

I just looked at the picture of him and I taken at his leadership tour in my city and thought to myself “I guess my judgment isn’t as solid as I like to think it is”. He has no one to answer to now and we’ve seen the real Max is a little bit crazy.

Safe to say that his comments would have been more tempered had he won. We really don’t know how different the dynamic would be. The problem is that he’s ruining a winning message – lower immigration (half of Canadians now want this), no more welfare to wealthy dairy farmers in an age of declining milk consumption, etc – by engaging in such needless nastiness.

“The problem is that he’s ruining a winning message – lower immigration (half of Canadians now want this), no more welfare to wealthy dairy farmers ”

Those were my reasons for supporting him (especially the dairy thing). He seemed to take a common sense approach that was lacking elsewhere, and his apparent contempt for “political correctness” mirrored my own (it’s the libertarian in me).

Who is the “Far left authoritarian” that Rempel is allegedly supporting? I’m in the dark on that one…

Also, this doesn’t sound like Bernier himself tweeted this out (though he would definitely agree with the content)– this sounds like the work of a snotty little proud-boy type intern. This doesn’t match Max’s English-language syntax.

My dad is an old-school conservative, and receives Bernier’s “People’s Party” emails regularly. He has forwarded a few of them to me, and it seems Bernier’s overall schtick is to present himself as the one person who will call-out issues that everyone else is afraid to discuss. He is clever enough to create a mix of general topics and hot-button issues, to make it sound like the CPC is simply Liberal Lite.

Unsurprisingly, these emails always include a desperate plea for money. Also unsurprisingly (and thankfully), the People’s Party can’t break 4% support across the country.
