There is more money spent on camping in the Trudeau Liberal platform than there is on gun violence

Think about that.

Camping here. Guns here.

Governments defeat themselves.

Camping! How about giving the money to the people camping under bridges and in parks. You know, the homeless people! They could bone up on good camping practices – Trudeau could teach them outdoor Blackface chanting and dancing skills.

I’m in a Liberal held swing riding. I walk by the LPC, CPC campaign offices on my daily commute.
    LPC deserted. CPC busy.

Also noticing a lot of LPC signs on public property which is unusual in my riding. This shows the campaign staff knows they aren’t getting regular signs like they used to.

Nanos today has PMJT moving sharply down in preferred PM, now tied with AS. Usually that’s a precursor for things to come. Should be an interesting week.

  3. Fred J Pertanson says:

Don’t worry. The idiots will just increase the spend on gun violence.

    Cheers.

  4. John says:

Yes but as the Liberal ads point out, we must stop evil Scheer and his Conservative MPs from shooting up the streets of Toronto with assault rifles. And we could end up with Scheer ordering SOLDIERS MARCHING IN THE STREETS! An old Liberal oldie but goldie.

If you want more money to be spent on gun violence you’ll have to talk to the brain of the Liberal Party… Gerald Butts.

  6. J.H. says:

Sorry can’t post a photo here for you but there’s at least one all over the net, showing Althia Raj debate moderator, meeting with Gerald Butts just days before the debate. One I saw shows him making notes – for her?
Questionable behavior at best, no matter what the explanation.

The ‘camping’ thing ain’t very ‘camp’ [if you know what I mean]. Appears to me to be a sign of desperation. Gun violence will not be [fairly] addressed by persecuting legal owners. More diddly laws will simply and obviously be ignored and violated by the gang bangers. To not realize this is to insult all electors with brains.

    • The Doctor says:

You could characterize this entire election campaign as one massive, continuous insult to those Canadians who have brains.

      • Fred from BC says:

Happy to hear I’m not the only one who feels that way, Doc. Just came from the CBC comments section, on Andrew Scheer and insurance salesmen vs brokers. It made my head hurt.

  8. Peter says:

In fairness to JT (I can’t believe I just wrote that), his camping credit might actually send a few kids camping. But nobody, not even he, seriously believes his gun initiative will save even one life.

Gun control and climate change are two issues where, for the progressive mainstream, it’s much more important to look like you are doing something than to be actually doing something.

    • Fred from BC says:

“Gun control and climate change are two issues where, for the progressive mainstream, it’s much more important to look like you are doing something than to be actually doing something.”

Couldn’t have said it any better, Peter. Somehow I’m always the one who ends up paying the price when gang-bangers turn Toronto into the OK Corral.

Worse yet, they justify their symbolic gestures (although you really have to press hard to get them to admit that they know their shiny new law will have *no effect whatsoever* on gun crime or murder) as being “a step in the right direction” or the classic “every little bit helps” or even that timeless progressive favorite “if it saves just one life”.

I used to believe that they did this just so they could wash their hands of the problem and claim to have ‘solved’ it, which is actually worse than doing nothing. In reality, the only thing they are working towards is total prohibition of civilian gun ownership, which them turns us into a police state.

      • Peter says:

I was with you until that last sentence, Fred. There are lots of countries with tight gun control that can’t be described as police states and lots with plenty of guns that can.

I once spent some time studying international statistics on gun ownership and gun homicides to try and cut through the simplistic heated rhetoric we hear whenever this issue surfaces. It was quite an eye-opener. Once you get past the obvious–you need a gun to commit a gun homicide–it is impossible to draw general conclusions about the correlations between gun control laws, rates of gun ownership and rates of gun homicides. It’s a very complex subject and the statistics don’t really back up either side. Nor can you look to things like poverty rates to help you. That’s one reason it can be so simple to debunk the shibboleths each side trumpets endlessly and the debate just keeps on going round and round.

        • Fred from BC says:

I believe you, Peter. I’m just pointing that “tight gun control” isn’t the same as *no* civilian gun ownership at all, and this is what many of the ‘gun control’ crowd in Canada are fervently working toward: NO ownership, period. They truly believe that if only the police and the military have guns, Canada will be magically transformed into a crime-free, peaceful paradise. I disagree.

          • Peter says:

And so do I. But is it really honest to fight, on the purported basis of evidence, the banning of semi-automatic weapons (which are responsible for for a negligible number of deaths despite their heart-breaking high profile, but are still morally appalling) or the restricting of handguns in cities? What possible reason is there to justify gun ownership in a Toronto or Vancouver high rise? There are a lot of issues today where the divide between urban and non-urban perspectives has become dangerously divided, but none more than this one.

  9. John says:

National Post reports that half of Canadians live paycheck to paycheck, and a large number of people can’t save for retirement. But hey, as long as kids can go canoeing with Groper, all is well.

  10. You wrote: Governments defeat themselves.

My reply: Justin Trudeau defeats governments.

  11. John says:

So the biggest scandal in history is on what Scheer did in an insurance office twenty years ago. Yes that is more important than Justin breaking the law twice, groping women, and wearing blackface on numerous occasions.

  12. Arie Intveld says:

So will the GTA gangbangers be able to take their guns along when they go on a federally-funded camping trip?
