Given the Dems are looking like they will pick Biden, so don’t count Trump out yet.

Will Catherine McKenna survive as a cabinet minister?

When people are focused on dealing with COVID-19; when many people are getting sick and some dying; when people are losing their jobs; when Service Canada is swamped, etc. what is our infrastructure minister doing?

She’s holding a class on climate change.

In case she deletes the tweet, here is the text from her April 2 tweet:

“I’ll be hosting a climate class at 1 PM on Facebook Live.
Follow along and ask me some questions. “

Is this the “All hands on deck” approach the PM is advocating?

Trump fanatics have demonstrated time and time again that it doesn’t matter what Trump says or does – he’ll always be their guy.

Most people who are not Trump fanatics have long since concluded the man is not fit to be president. Some are vocal about that, others hold their nose and continue to support him because he furthers their agendas.

As such, nothing’s going to change on this front AFAICT. And Trumps current approval rating seems to support this.

Yep – what I’ve observed about Trump supporters as well. It really doesn’t matter what he says or does; they seem to dig in harder. It’s almost like they are more afraid of being wrong than of the consequences of Trump’s ongoing idiocy.

The 8-12% swing vote will determine the presidential outcome.
        Not the Trump fanatics.

A few weeks ago, I said something along those lines to a work colleague in California re independents. He seemed to believe that independents were a vanishing breed, and what really mattered now was how much of its base a party could coax out to vote on election day.

New polls today (according to Politico, can’t remember who conducted them) have swung and show a solid majority of Americans now disapprove of his handling of this crisis.

  5. Miles Lunn says:

First two are ignorant who care less about logic so nothing will convince them no matter how overwhelming evidence is. In the old days, they were the types who died off from social Darwinism. Thankfully we’ve moved beyond that, but point being the useful idiots cannot be convinced otherwise.

As for anti-government, that is a bit trickier. I think after this, we will see smaller government but higher taxes. With the amount of debt not just Canada but all countries take on, it will require tough choices once this is done. Right now focus should be on getting through this, not fiscal responsibility but after this I don’t see how Canada or just about every other country can get out of hole without spending cuts and tax hikes.
