    Assuming immunity is persistent.

Also assuming that it doesn’t mutate along the lines of a seasonal style coronavirus and become endemic.

Also assuming we haven’t / won’t all catch it anyway.

Interesting study out of California where they estimated the actual prevalence is anywhere between 50 and 85 times higher than whats being diagnosed.

Which if true means all the statistics that are being thrown around are simply inaccurate when it comes to mortality rates.

There is simply no way to tell without testing a larger portion of the population than the ones who show symptoms or are connected to people who show symptoms.

  2. Chris Sigvaldason says:

Proven immunity? One can only hope. You only get a few weeks of immunity after recovering from the common cold (which is caused by both corona virus and rhino virus). There have been no studies or other indications that recovered patients have ANY immunity to COVID. In fact, there have been reports from South Korea and Japan that some recovered patients have been re-infected.

    • Steve Teller says:

While this may end up being true, the analogy to the common cold is not a good one. There are over 200 viruses that cause what we generically term a “common cold”. It may well be that we develop some protracted immunity from the virus we get in a given year, but our next cold is due to a different virus. Compare this to COVID, which (at least for the most part) is a single identifiable virus.

Not saying you can’t ever get infected with the same virus twice, but the cold/COVID comparison is not optimal.

This situation brought to light how many people are living precariously from paycheck to paycheck with no prospect of retirement / savings even in the distant horizon. I hope that changes too. However, I suspect lower middle class wage slaves will be the first people to get hammered even more when governments realise they will eventually have to pay for all of this.

  4. Ronald O'Dowd says:

What was that about young people in China and South Korea where roughly 30% of those people had low to no antibodies after recovery? That is rather alarming news, if accurate, about the post-recovery immunity response.

  5. Paige says:

You have to keep up Bill. Thwy are now saying theres more than 30 variations.

  6. Eddie says:

People will become ‘bug chasers’ if immunity has value. Dumb idea.
