And so it begins

Predicted to a friend yesterday that he’d start the “fake news” chorus within ten days, because he knows he has nothing left to save his political hide.

I was off by nine days.

Except for comedy relief, real Canadians don’t give a shit what the great bloviator has to say.

  2. Time for the COVID-19 quiz.

I wonder if Trump knows who said this:

“Look, we’re going to lose anywhere from 75, 80 to 100,000 people. That’s a horrible thing. We shouldn’t lose one person out of this,” […]

I don’t trust anything the media has to say about any politician. They all have their sources who require payback for info. And they lie and lie and lie.

Versus the President, who only tells the truth?

I find this line of criticism interesting. The media could report a story that the sun rose in the east this morning, and if it didn’t suit the narrative of Trump and his supporters, it would be “fake news” and a “lie”.

Maybe we move to a point where we review the content of the story to determine its truthfulness, rather than looking at who delivered the message.

      • Wes W says:

I said any politician. Trump lies and distorts everyday. The only one I trust less than him is the media reporting on him.

This is going to attract flack from both sides of the border and all sides of the political spectrum, but here goes…

In terms of politics and personality, President Trump and Prime Minister Trudeau share more than the first three letters of their surname.

As Canadians, we listen to Mr Trump and ask ourselves how Americans can vote for him to represent America on the world stage.

Likewise, my American friends look at Mr Trudeau in brownface and wonder how we Canadians, who claim to be tolerant and more culturally aware than Americans, can re-elect Mr Trudeau.

The political reality in both cases is much complicated than what either side wishes to meme or soundbyte. As noted by our host during his last post-election analysis, one of the reasons Monsieur Trudeau survived what would have killed the political aspirations of his competitors is because he is more celebrity than politician. The same is true of Mr Trump.

Additionally, many who vote for Trump or Trudeau recognize the character flaws of their particular guy, but don’t see their competitors as viable alternatives. So they accept these flaws as a necessary evil of doing business with the candidate.

Another point is that voters may support the flawed candidate, but seek to limit their power. So Mr Trudeau was reduced to a minority government. Whereas Democrats were handed the House of Representatives and the majority of state governorships and legislative assemblies during the mid-terms elections.

Putin would be very happy with your statement.

    • Max says:

But you are capable of critical thinking? To discern fact from biased opinion?

      • Wes W says:

I hope so, I’m not sure when it comes to politics that anyone has a grasp of the true facts other than those directly involved, and what they will portray their bias as well.

    • The Doctor says:

“Trump and his apparatchiks will not only step up their propaganda; they will increase their efforts to exhaust our critical thinking and to annihilate truth, in the words of the Russian dissident Garry Kasparov. We will see even more ‘alternative facts’. We will see even more brazen attempts to rewrite history. We will hear even more crazy conspiracy theories. We will witness even more lashing out at reporters, more rage, and more lies.

‘The real opposition is the media,’ Steve Bannon, the president’s former chief strategist, once told the journalist Michael Lewis. ‘And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit.'”

Dr. Fauci is a cyborg created in a secret lab in Wuhan. He was designed by George Soros and Clay Bertrand. Worse press than Octomom. Total exhoneration from the 5 G towers. Liberate Monkey’s Eyebrow! If Col Sanders was in Andrew Jackson’s Cabinet they would have stopped the Gulf of Tonkin Crisis. Thich Nhat Hanh teamed up with the Woman from Michighan and stoped the greatest economy that ever existed. They are Budhapests! Eat some fungicide and wash it down with a pint of Drano.

Watch for the dominoes to fall. Transcripts from sworn testimony are now out.

Is this the sleeper? Smart-phone-based digital contact tracing by a central authority? Theoretically, what happens in countries if legislation was (is) changed to make it mandatory? GPS vs. Bluetooth health surveillance…

Symptoms, then testing, and if positive, a possible rigorous and mandatory health examination of your network: your private circle of family, friends, acquaintances and work colleagues. Then what if in-country legislation modifications call for mandatory and involuntary removal and isolation (to where exactly?)…?

Something to think about in 2020, the debut year of widespread adoption of such apps.

Interesting, and somewhat disturbing regarding privacy issues and potential surveillance limits. A Health-Care Big Brother, oddly “comforting”?
