Because it’s 2020. Or something.

The Trudeau government throws another minority woman under the bus. Again.

This bunch is anything but Liberal.

    Frauds + scoundrels.
    The whole lot.

Time to throw the rascals out.

    • Max says:

On the contrary, this bunch is EVERYTHING Liberal. Where ya been?

      • Douglas W says:

        Chretien ran a good government.
        A responsible government.

Never threw anyone under the bus.

Had a stellar front bench: Manley, Graham, McLellan, Martin, Masse, Tobin.

Chretien’s government was truly Liberal: fiscally responsible, socially progressive.

Can’t say the same for young Justin.

        • Pedant says:

I do look back fondly at how remarkably professional and ADULT the Chretien cabinets were. I could add Herb Gray and Lloyd Axworthy to your list. Didn’t agree with many of their beliefs, but they were competent.

The Martin cabinet were a slight step down since he elevated nutcases like Carolyn Bennett. The Harper cabinets were also a bit amateurish at times and nobody aside from Jim Flaherty, Rona Ambrose, and John Baird established much of a profile due to Harper’s overriding micromanaging. Never heard much from Peter Mackay when in cabinet.

But Justin’s junior high level of professionalism is something else entirely. This is undoubtedly a low point in government competence in Canada that I don’t think will ever be reached again. His cabinet is half airheads and half corrupt, with the leader espousing both traits in equal proportion.

No Canadian has done more damage to the political aspirations of minority women than Justin Trudeau.

  3. Nick M. says:

This is horrible for young women and children of colour growing up today. To know that you will always be at the disposal of this old boys club.

    • Max says:

“Horrible”? The most ethnically and racially diverse city in Canada (also the largest) votes one party in, consistently. So, obviously many are OK with this.

The LPC missed the one ideal opportunity to deal with “the old boys club”. Two women did just that – Philpott and Wilson-Raybold. Only to be undone by their female MP colleagues. Those same women, including Freeland, are defending the “old boys” Justin and Billy right now. The Liberal Party of Canada – Where Accountability Goes to Die.

  4. Steve T says:

The fact she is a minority woman is irrelevant. If they are throwing people under the bus, to cover up their own misdeeds, it is equally reprehensible regardless of the gender or skin colour of who they do it to.

  5. Martin says:

Dzerowicz is a disgusting piece of work. I was listening and not watching and actually had to go back and rewatch it because I couldn’t believe my ears. I ALMOST feel bad for Morneau. I actually do feel bad for Chagger.

  6. They are quite something, to put it mildly. They are A-OK with Minister Chagger signing off on the FINAL contract — until the shit hits the fan and it becomes public — then suddenly, it’s by magic a political abomination that’s all her fault. I hope she takes them down.

What these people won’t stoop to to hold on to power. It’s up to all of us, the voters, to introduce them to the unemployment line, starting with this Prime Minister.

  7. Gilbert says:

This is sad. Bardish Chagger’s father was an admirer of Pierre Trudeau. She doesn’t deserve such horrible treatment.

    • Pedant says:

She’s not obligated to take the fall for this. If she willingly provides cover for the scumbag Trudeau, that’s her decision. She has free will you know.

      • Ronald O'Dowd says:

        Pedant,

No, she’s not obligated just yet. But the WE government will have to throw someone under the bus and since she’s a junior minister merely reporting to Guilbeault, she is the obvious sucker candidate to use as convenient cover for this government.

        • Montrealaise says:

If I were Ms. Chagger, I would cross the floor to make the point that I am nobody’s sucker.

          • Ronald O'Dowd says:

            Montréalaise,

Chagger is following conventional political wisdom — if she remains a good loyal solidier and does not make waves, she inevitably gets to stay in cabinet. Right…

She needs to face reality by calling up JWR, JP and CCC.

Why are the NDP propping up team corruption?
Very disappointed in the NDP on the Ethics Committee, and very disappointed in Mr Singh.

    • Douglas W says:

NDP is in no hurry to bring down the government.

Still trying to figure out what to do with what’s his name? (You know, the leader).

    • Chris Sigvaldason says:

Possibly because they know that Justin Trudeau is (or superficially appears to be) the most “NDP”-like person to ever become Prime Minister. This is the most left-wing government in Canadian history and closest to power that the NDP is ever to get. The NDP is happy to chip off little bits of progressive policy from the Liberal minority regime. Singh & company have shown that they are willing to shabbily trade responsible government and accountability away for surprisingly little.
The NDP is broke, indebted to the gills, their HQ building mortgaged to the max and they want nothing to do with an election for as long as possible.

      • A election risks a majority government, which means the NDP would lose all its influence and no more progressive policies for Canadians.

        • Ronald O'Dowd says:

          Darwin,

NDP strategists never fail to disappoint. It still hasn’t occurred to them that the name of the game is growing the membership, increasing financing and their representation in the Commons and ultimately going for government as Jack and Mulcair did. Licking this government’s ass only perpetuates their status as a rump party, continually going nowhere politically. And they wonder why their funding is DOA…beyond politically stupid.

          • The Ontario government recently announced paid sick leave for all which is the result of the “ass licking” deal with the NDP. It will go a long way to reduce the spread of COVID and likely save lives.

Tragically, both the Liberals and the Conservatives where unwilling to do it without NDP pressure. The NDP focuses on tragedies, not scandals.

    • Ronald O'Dowd says:

      Joe,

There’s an impression left out there by previous NDP incarnations that they can be serially bought for the right price. I think Singh will finally have his moment of political clarity soon enough and I look forward to this government finally being defeated in the House.

      • Derek Pearce says:

Not while they are so strapped financially . The NDP needs to get some money in the bank before it can afford to run in an election. They can’t even really borrow much if an election were to happen, they are so indebted right now.

    • Phil in London says:

NDP – no damn platform or now no damn principles. Eg
Smiling Jack appeals to Liberals to LEND them their vote.
There are a number of GOOD men and women in the NDP but there are many content to manipulate the party in power to get some of what they want. I think Jack Layton cared about his nation but the restart of professional sports provides exhibit a of why the NDP remains a rump. The term is farm team. They raise the socialists that can be promoted to the big team in time of need i.e. Bob Rae, the other one being the former bC NDP premiere forgive for forgetting his name. (Trudeau un was a socialist convert to liberalism) This is a nice arrangement for LPC if the CPC is close you open up another front with Layton or Singh or Broadbent. The last people in Canada to want the NDP to fail are the elites in the LPC and while you may love Or hate the Chrétien years he was on this point a master. My guess is the NDP votes non confidence the moment Trudeau sends the orders. Look how they propped up Ontario libs.
