No Erin on the side of caution. Again.

Also: a party that can’t run a simple leadership vote can’t run the country, either.

  1. Erin has reminted himself as True Blue. In my book, that’s no where near being a Social Conservative. But now he has to figure out how to move even more to the centre without alienating those constituent groups that put him over the top. No easy task, to say the least.

The machines broke. It happens. It’s true that they should have done stricter testing and quality control before feeding in all the ballots, but it was a technical snafu and not a managerial one.

People comparing this to the Iowa caucus are being ridiculous. In Iowa there were real concerns that the results were utterly inaccurate and therefore invalid. That isn’t the case here.

    • William says:

Not making sure the machines were functioning properly beforehand is NOT a technical snafu. Would you feel the same way if this was a Liberal screw-up. I think not.

      • William,

Absolutely, the party should have done a preventive dry run with enough simulated ballots to make sure the damned machines worked properly.

      • Pedant says:

William, I don’t give a rat’s behind how Liberals conduct their leadership races. So no, i wouldn’t care. That’s for Liberal party members to fret over.

I’m more concerned with the Liberal government being objectively the most crooked in living memory.

  3. Phil In London says:

Democrats in Iowa took three days to announce results and six to sort of say they think they got it right.
How does that exactly compare to trying to as you so often point out “save lives from coronavirus” by cautiously using a machine to open ballots.
A few hours delay to get it right is fine by me. ALL candidates are happy with the results.
Your suggestion that there is something incompetent supports Trump’s idea mail in balloting will be corrupt.

Conjuring the socon bogeyman….how 90’s. I hope Warren earns some residuals.

    • The Doctor says:

Why not though? Seems to work. I have lots of Liberal and Liberal-leaning friends who barf that stuff out in rote fashion every federal election.

Then I’ll point out facts — like how Harper was in power for multiple terms and did’t bring any law or restriction regarding abortion — and the blank look on their faces is priceless. Utter obliviousness. Most people don’t follow politics closely at all and are significantly logic-challenged. Political war rooms feast on that.

      • Martin says:

Recall that he was also going to bring back the death penalty and privatize the health care system and then increased transfers to the provinces by massive amounts. Al such hysterical HDS nonsense.
