By-elections, provincial results, etc.: all suggest that incumbents have more of an edge during the pandemic – voters don’t want more disruption in their lives. Trump will be the exception: working for @TheDemocrats, I’ve seen how Trump is opposed because he IS the disruptor.

The Governments that have been successful – New Brunswick, BC, Saskatchewan, and the by-elections – were all won by parties that followed scientific advice and only minimally politicised the pandemic. Trump, in contrast, has made the pandemic all about politics, lies and distortion and it appears that he is paying the price for it.
