Interesting to see “new” aspects of the Payette affair are coming to light as details emerge of Trudeau’s screwups on managing COVID.

Talked to a reliable person tonight who is in the know. This stuff with the new variants…. Is bad… bad… bad… The scientists can’t keep up with it. If you think you’ve seen it all with the lockdowns and the craziness etc… you haven’t seen anything yet.

61st in response and the variants are a good talking point. Patti what’s her name’s talking points about our border crossing criteria is ridiculous. She look to be holding back a hearty “I can’t believe anyone will buy this” sort of chuckle as she talks.
Meanwhile the vain minister himself suggests that further airport restrictions would put food supply at risk.
61 surely must be code for the amount of action – SFA (SWEET —— ALL)
Canadian pharma is coming forward saying they could assist government, they must be lying to the virtuous ones?
Shame we don’t have an impeachment mechanism (do we?) but then he”d get elected anyway by the sheeple in the GTA

The Liberal caucus is legally empowered to drop the leader without notice at any moment. They won’t because 99.9% of the voters don’t understand how parliament works and they are banking on his friendliness to carry them to a third term.

          FE,

Like most MPs, they know only one true God: the political requirements for full pension access. Nothing else matters.

      • It only requires a simple majority vote to remove the Prime Minister and trigger an election. No high crimes needed. In this minority, it can be done without any Liberal support.

        • faithless elector says:

Yeah but the point is if the Liberal House leader told the GG tomorrow morning that the Polkaroo had been chosen as the new leader by the caucus, the Polkaroo is the new leader. No election needed.

If true, than the government of Canada can’t afford not to be engaging with Providence therapeutics.

      • Phil in London says:

True or not, there must be some way Canada could be more involved in the rollout than mimicking the poor beggars I see more and more at stop lights every year.
I think we are closer today to adding “if true” to any utterance from this government.

  3. Nick M. says:

We have all been through this pandemic for far too long for the government not to be straight with us.

SWEDEN where a big part of the reaction was promoting herd immunity is ahead of CANADA.
It suggests we’ve done a lot more wrong than right.
Prorogue parliament to shut down committees.
Ignore made in Canada vaccine options while cosying up to China.
Leaving airport AND Border crossing entries largely unchecked other than handing out a suggestive piece of paper on how to isolate.
Avoiding question period while photo-oppping his stay at the cottage.
It’s hard to imagine he has any time to wear black face, grope women and virtue signal. His personal sacrifice is a great example to us all.

Funny you should mention Sweden. Sweden’s infection rate and death rate per capita are more than “twice Canada’s, which makes me wonder just what judgments went into these rankings. The fact that “total deaths” is a factor seems absurd and explains why so many small countries rank high. Ditto with “total confirmed cases”. And, aren’t provincial and local governments the ones responsible for testing in Canada? Why is there no accounting for the response of healthcare systems?

Only two of the six criteria strike me as things we could reasonably point figures at Justin & co. for. Furthermore, while we can be angry about the vaccine rollouts, shouldn’t we be more angry and Pfizer and others? Canada isn’t the only country in a lather about this issue.

I don’t need any more reasons to want to be rid of Trudeau. Let’s not succumb to mob rage about things we really don’t understand.

One thing about covid is that it almost seems tailor-made for cherry-picking statistics and data to tell whatever story you want to tell.

        • Pedant says:

I agree. Testing rates obviously differ by country, and different countries attribute Covid as the cause of death according to different criteria.

For example, in the UK if someone dies within 28 days of a positive Covid test, the virus is automatically considered to be the cause of death and is included in the statistics. However in many other countries, most notably Germany I believe, if a person already has a terminal or serious illness prior to covid infection, it is usually that pre-existing illness which is considered cause of death and therefore not included in official covid statistics.

Wasn’t me that mentioned Sweden the chart did. Justin is guilty of dozens of confidence crushing events that lead us to an incompetent leadership when we need competence most. Pfizer is a company, only shareholders vote there. I’m mad at the buffoonery of a government that should be busting ass for all of us, should be providing an environment that attracts manufacturers not sales offices. That should be cooperating with other parties at what is the darkest times most of our nation have ever faced. That should be instilling confidence not jumping from scandal to scandal. I really don’t give a shit about other countries when my own is being run by a clown. This has nothing to do with partisanship unless you are asking me to frame the PM’s primary focus 24 hours a day 7 days a week. And for the incredibly naive out there he doesn’t give a shit about you or the Liberal party or anyone not named Justin Trudeau. People are amazed trump duped so many Americans into electing a lying narcissist. I submit to you exhibit b. If your going to defend the little shit come up with SOMETHING he’s done right.

Actually, Ronald, the argument that getting rid of the monarchy would constitute “growing up” marks you as a dinosaur. That claim was heard a lot up to the early seventies, and it could be argued there was a slow, steady move to republicanism over several decades, but then everyone suddenly stopped caring and talking about it, not because of a surge of monarchist fervor, but because everyone suddenly realized it didn’t matter a whit, wasn’t an incident of colonialism anymore and there were a lot more important things to argue about. I understand that you and many others have no emotional feel for the institution, but why in the world would you want to open that can of worms? Besides, given what we’ve just been seeing down south, I think it’s clear there are advantages to a remote, powerless, hereditary, dullish head of sate.

But if you think you would have an easy time of it and that only old fogeys are monarchists, you should have been in Ottawa and elsewhere when Kate and William came in 2011. And, be honest, don’t you think Her Majesty looked just lovely during her Christmas speech. 🙂

    Two thoughts:

1 – I had a number of friends growing up who were Rwandan refugees. So I am happy to see Rwanda in the Top 10 here, as Rwandans have already suffered so much.

2 – How rough would Canada’s numbers look without the Atlantic Provinces?
