I remember during the plague when all the usual suspects were giving Ford a hard time about his Muskoka cottage. How things have changed now that a pin striped banker is in charge. Elbows up! Shades of Ron Silver. From the NR:
“Last week, I thought of Ron Silver, the late actor. He was a political activist. He was an ardent Democrat. At Clinton’s first inauguration, he saw military jets flying over the Lincoln Memorial, and was disgusted. Then he thought, “Those are our planes now.””
I wonder if Carney and Ford were sitting around in their jammies at midnight yucking it up about what public service cuts they should make.
It is hilarious that the left fell for this.
On Kinew, I am holding my powder. He has already signaled he will be difficult on the nation building projects and I’m sure Tara Hart thought he was charming too…but I digress.
Everyone in their heart of hearts knows that some public service cuts are coming. Most will likely be by attrition. But the public service is like any other entrenched and not inclined to sacrifice lobby: they want minimum to no cuts, and that’s what they’ll get with Carney. Our guy, not at all. He’s viewed rightly or wrongly as a slasher and potential destroyer of CBC. So…who’s that other guy again who slashed NPR and PBS? I rest my case. Our clueless dork did this and continues to do it to himself and our party. See how simple that is?
Our jackass also wants to cut foreign aid, and guess who just did that as well…he’s a blithering idiot on his best day. No political leader is more talented at undermining his potential political support than this clown is. He goes out of his way to do it. No wonder Carney is all smiles. He’s got the next election already in the bag. Lucky him.
Your “clueless dork” and “clown” references above are very apt. With PP continuing to preach to his base, he’ll find his audiences are continuing to shrink. He’s showing all the signs of meeting this reality with bewilderment and preaching even louder.
I prefer pathetic. But in the end, it’s what we deserve for enthusiastically choosing three DUDS in a row. At least Harper was competent and up to the job. Not those three fools. Not in a month of Sundays.
And maybe just maybe we could focus on core competence with a personality next time? You know, some warmth and charm that’s at least electable instead of deliberately blocking Charest, said type of candidate.
We have an extraordinary talent for going out of our way to preemptively fuck ourselves. Time to break that pattern after this leader resign. It would be nice if Harper took the lead THIS time…for a change.
If Pierre Poilievre can make the case that charity begins at home, and that a lot of foreign aid doesn’t really help those for whom it is intended, voters might be sympathetic. I doubt most voters will want their leader to increase foreign aid. Yes, I know the argument that it’s a small amount of our budget, but even just one dollar wasted is still waste.
Foreign aid at least does some good. So we get some value for the money in God’s book. Every Canadian government willingly wastes money with their habitual and perpetual system of G-I-C- appointments where unqualified, incompetent but loyal hacks get to eat at the trough at your expense for at least four years and surprise, surprise, every government laughingly and disingenuously claims that said hacks and bozos are both qualified and appointments based solely on merit. RIGHT. Tell me another one. After all, I already believe in the Tooth Fairy…
Full disclosure: I was turned down twice because I tried to give Harper the heave-ho. My letters of reply were nasty. As Barbara Frum used to say, but [were] they bitter? Yup. LOL.
Well, Ford is Ford. Not known for being overly patient or suffering fools gladly. So, if either of those situations occur thanks to the feds, or their pencil pushers, it won’t take long for Ford to Vesuvius all over Carney. But will the latter see it coming?
Harper, at the portrait unveiling of Jean Chretien: “I’ve always wanted to hang Jean Chretien.”
The room roared

Martin,

So I open up my Linkedin feed today and I see some kid that works for me shaking Ford’s hand in Muskoka!

Martin,
Great minds think alike! Hope you won’t have partner management problems.

Ronald,
Your “clueless dork” and “clown” references above are very apt. With PP continuing to preach to his base, he’ll find his audiences are continuing to shrink. He’s showing all the signs of meeting this reality with bewilderment and preaching even louder.
Sad.
RKJ,

One wonders if Ford being Carneys bum buddy may possibly blow back into his face sooner than later.
Dink,
Well, Ford is Ford. Not known for being overly patient or suffering fools gladly. So, if either of those situations occur thanks to the feds, or their pencil pushers, it won’t take long for Ford to Vesuvius all over Carney. But will the latter see it coming?
