The 2017 Hamas Covenant has never officially replaced the 1988 one and has been described not as a replacement but as an interim version to serve the current situation. More recently since October 7th, Hamas leaders have reaffirmed their 1988 genocidal mandate. They don’t even try to hide it. https://youtu.be/BJNccvNJtGk?si=d-xELNJUmZHrEz2s
Poor Brian. Calling those things deals. Not really. Canadians need to get this straight: Trump doesn’t want a deal. He wants a capitulation. And Carney will never give him that.
That’s basically it – Trump acts like a king and he expects subservience from little countries like Canada – it will be a cold day in hell before we get on our knees for that idiot
I like the argument that as soon as you take away a bike lane, traffic flow likely increases considerably, leading to even more congestion. You know, hamster-wheel thinking on the roads. Thought Ford was smarter than that. So-called simplistic easy fixes generally don’t work.
1100 people. Tip of the ICEBERG. Does this mean that they are entitled to a pardon? Seems to be the prevailing trend these days, at least south of the border.
24 Sussex. It depends. If it highly likely becomes the next projected BIG O, then no fucking way. Raze the dump and start over and build something adequate for today’s lifestyle and security requirements. It ain’t the Taj Mahal. Far from it.
However, the entrenched lobby, the NCC and political class want it rebuilt regardless of the cost. How typically bureaucratic.
Take CUSMA-Compliance with a grain of salt. With Trump there, both Canadian and especially American customs will vastly increase importer audits to confirm compliance. And that will give business a stroke, one company at a time. Note that U.S. CBP can visit Canadian businesses anytime in the company of a Canadian Customs officer.
In short, Carney is boxed in with no pleasant or agreeable alternatives: he can go for a bad deal, or a capitulation, or no deal. None of these unpalatable alternatives will add more shine to the gold star that he got in the election. That’s for sure. He wanted the PM job and now he’s got it. Lucky him.
No deal is better than a bad deal, and if we respond with targeted tariffs they’ll eventually want a deal – I think it’s time to poke them where it hurts with targeted tariffs
I said over at my place that we should go on the offense and use targeted tariffs on all CUSMA-compliant goods made in the United States. That would get the business lobby howling against President Dipshit and finally put an end to this once and for all. But has Carney got the guts? Nope, not in a million years.
I am having a hard time getting animated about politics at present. Maybe that will change when the HOC resumes sitting. Other than I am making fun of the fact that the left fell for a pin striped banker who, just for the record, may or may not have been successful at finance. We have no facts in evidence either way. I am presently consoling myself with the fact that the wealth shift of the last 10 years will continue as long as Carney is in charge. Elbows up!
Music on the other hand….great show this week for that. I had the Getting Nowhere Fast track but hadn’t gone down a rabbit hole yet but this week I did because of the amazing bass line. Ended up here:
I just heard the CBC say that a potential deal with Mexico could be a “game changer”. Hilarious. Look at our relative GDP per capita and how much business we presently do with them.
Agreed. How much more toothpaste can we squeeze out of the tube with a bilateral? And besides, just the transportation costs by truck will work against any new deal.
So we are supposed to be in the middle of the “greatest existential crisis of our lifetime”(not serious enough for the HOC to sit but I digress). The NDP fell for a union busting, pinstriped, conflict ridden banker that said he would fix it. Yesterday Carney said he and Trump would “chat” at some point in the future when it makes sense. There it is. There’s the plan.
So, let me get this straight. The only way we win is to satisfy a guy like Tim Houston. Timmy just set up a snitch line where you can call in and report people who grab a little shade under a tree. The fine is 25,000.00. I think I would rather keep my dignity(oh and keep enjoying the wealth shift-elbows up!).
Ford is the most aggressive albeit not aggressive enough. So, he’s my guiding light.
Our jerk can only go with blaming Carney for everything. In short, a framework for nothing. Maybe he should be watching Amanda’s podcast on Friday when SaintByrneTM will probably be in full window-dressing mode. You know, delusion central. Those two are perfect for each other. They’ll do all that they possibly can to magically recreate their losing electoral formula. But then, WE get what we deserve don’t we…

Curious,
From the world to Trump: go fuck yourself. Personally, I liked the painting of the glory hole. Just saying.
Warren,
You guys still have got it wrong on recognition of a Palestinian state on the West Bank. But Brian is bang on about Abbas. No elections, ever…

Nothing is original, basically. To be fair, though, Cale was likely inspired by someone else.
Looking forward to the new Spiritual Cramp album(out 24/10/25).
Cloud Nothings has been played before-Fall in. This new track is a banger.
The find of the week was the closer though. Thank god our host decided to stop his Surf Curse boycott. “Kids” is beautiful.

That will likely be the take now that Mexico told Frankie Bubbles no thanks.

Martin,
I have a plan. Carney has a concept of a chat.
I will disagree with Warren on one point.
I voted for Carney and I’ve never, not even for a moment, expected him to make a deal with Trump. There’s no such thing.
I voted for Carney because, of the options available, he was the best prepared to figure things out after that became obvious.

Warren,
By the by, so far, three people have been snuffed. A fourth is coming, apparently in minimum security. I’m shocked.
