Hmm. A somewhat different take on the Venomous, Vile Vituperator’s Visit©* to Ottawa:
Prior to the cancellation, Hamamdjian said only a small number of students were tasked with verifying the names of the people who had signed up to attend Coulter’s talk.
“It was a disaster in terms of just organization, which is probably one of the reasons why it was cancelled,” Hamamdjian told CTV News Channel from Ottawa on Wednesday morning.
Police eventually showed up to the scene and blocked the door to the building, but Hamamdjian said she doubted whether the combination of protesters and disorganization actually constituted “a physical risk to Ann Coulter.”

Vituperator? Took me a while, but thanks to alphaDictionary.com I am enlightened. They use it in the following sentence: If you find yourself falling victim to the verbs curse or cuss too often, here is the perfect substitute: “Vituperate, fulminate, blaspheme as much as you want, revile me if you will, but I will not eat this hotdog without chili.” Brilliant. Must be one of those $10 lawyerin’ words you lernt in Lawyerin’ Skool. Can’t help but notice how much the word looks like “velociraptor”. Coincidence?

I love how politics has degenerated into a sort of bad remake of that Star Trek episode with the dark/light guy on one side, and the light/dark guy on the other.
For one thing, as a conservative, I’d have loved to have pulled the fire alarm on Coulter-Levant. I didn’t, and wouldn’t have, because it would have fed their ego, and been an unprincipled step besides. But that shouldn’t stop me from *wanting* to do it. And I’d have enjoyed doing it because a decent country deserves better than to hear from people who pervert facts and make a mockery of rational society. Opposing clowns like Coulter or Levant has nothing to do with being “left” or “right,” and everything to do with “reason” versus “fraud.”
For another thing, you aren’t a conservative. Here in Canuckistan there are no real conservatives. Most of ‘em all moved. Thus the brouhaha over Annie dear. What a delightful bit of recognition for the university of Ottawa. Maybe Annie should have donned a niqab and touted sharia law…surely then her ‘voice’ would be heard. I’m embarrassed to be Canadian.
Warren are you talking about Coulter or the Liberal leader and vote in the house yesterday? Utter disorganization seems to discribe the Liberal caucus more than Ms. Coulter.
Alliterative aspiration is a coveted characteristic in any Sultan of Spin or, if you will, Czar of PR.
The whole thing is taking the appearance of a publicity stunt.

This is, of course, the spin of the left for why the lecture was cancelled. Spin and not truth or debate. Spin instead of civil dialog. How predictable and yes offensive is all this.
Ann Coulter is offensive but you are not. How self-righteous the left is! It is true what you said earlier:
“Man oh man, we’re going to be hearing about this for years.” But, Warren you did not tell us what “this” is? The left has revealed itself here and you will wear it for years!
Those Ottawa protesters, between knocking over tables and pulling fire alarms, seem to be quite fixated on “safe spaces” on campus.
A “safe space” would seem to be an area in which there exists no possibility of their fragile feelings becoming bruised by concepts expressed by others.
The term seems to be rooted in the daycare experience. I mean that of client, not caregiver. They strike me as a kind of self-appointed Polka Dot Door Police.
I guess my question is this: how on earth has it come to this?
Was it a publicity stunt or just some opportunism arising from Ezra Levant’s ineptitude? That guy could mess up free beer night at Steamwhistle.

Ann Coulter is the best thing to happen to Canada. Every time she speaks people nod their heads and inch further to the center. Let her speak.
Just watched a bit of coverage on CNN. Thought you might be interested that Ezra Levant was referred to as a student by the anchor and the caption at the bottom of the image read “Ezra Levant – Student Leader”. That and the fact Ms Coulter sputtered that she would have Ezra Levant serve as her lawyer in a taking this matter of denial of her free speech rights to the Human Rights Commission make it all the more interesting. She should be ignored — after all, who really wants to get their political commentary from the World Wrestling Federation…
They’re laughing at her on Joy Behar – that she’s so desperate she’s now having to flog her books in Ottawa.

I was there. I saw a conservative operative pulled the alarm. Hippies don’t wear ironed khakis and run around with a blackberry. The reality is that they only had 100 or so known supporters there, with a crowd of hundreds lined up. They wanted to fill the hall with their own friendly folks, but couldn’t get enough takers, and as such couldn’t guarantee a supportive audience, so they shut it down rather than face a real audience and real questions.
These conservative PMO types also threaten me. Did so publically threatening me with davie jones locker – in the London Free Press; I get what a threat feels like and it’s not fun. So I seriously ask, was there evidence of violence, a real threat, or what:
On the one hand: From Levant’s so-called evidence of a threat: “Everyone should call the police if she starts in on a hate speech… it is illegal in Canada” What kind of threat is stuff like the above – NOT!
On the other hand: I know there is are other comments at the level of “gravy and wolverines on angel dust” and “tar and feathering” but seriously threats? They are proverbally calling her a —insert bad word—.
She is a sock jock who ran from being shouted at. Nevertheless, cool the language. We don’t need to be like her.
Sorry folks, but as an almost life-long Liberal, I’m sad to say that Canada is in desperate need of a proper opposition party.

Think of the protest this lady drummed up against Obama. Nothing was too vile. He was spit at, threatened, lied about. And let not ever forget that if your ideology differs from the right’s you are not even let INTO the country to speak. How’s that for censorship?

Have you heard of a place called Columbia U, which was addressed last year by the president from Iran (beard, no tie, interesting views on homosexuals and Jews). Are you saying that his views jibe with those of “the right’s”?
Have you ever heard of a left-wing speaker being shut down by protesters as Coulter was in Ottawa?

Who banned them, I wonder?
