CBC coalition coverage

I forgot I was clipped on The Current this morning.  You can listen here. (I love the “that gentleman” bit – I laughed out loud, in fact.)

Also, I’m on P&P with Rosie Barton and the NDP’s Anne McGrath this evening.  You can guess what the subject-matter might be.

“Half pregnant” – the “Doc” spoke! You must have heard this in order to believe it!

You can’t be “half pregnant”. It’s all or nothing.

    Back to Sex Ed, Tim!

After listening to Warren’s matter of fact short bit, Tremonti: “Scott Reid, what do you think of that?”

    blah, no answer, shift response.

Nice going Scotty. Your inability (and your former boss’s same failing) to speak the truth plainly is a major reason why you and yours lost to the most right wing federal party in Canada’s history.

This is all getting rather silly.
The ongoing civil war in the Liberal caucus and party has to come to a halt.
Or, it is toast for the Liberal Party.
It happened to the PC Party following its defeat in 1993.
The Liberal Party’s demise will be just as slow and just as painful as it was for the PC militants.
To all those Liberals who refuse to see or accept reality.
Help create a viable centre-left party or get out of active politics.
The future is with a new generation of centre-left politicians.

The talk of coalition sounds to me like a child throwing a tantrum when you take away the kids favorite toy. The Liberals have been given a time out by the Canadian voters. Michael Ignatieff and the Liberal party come across like Willy Wonka’s Veruca Salt, “I want a goose that lays a golden egg and I want one now!”

    • Namesake says:

Wanker. You wanna liken what’s happening to our country to children’s movies? Fine. Then it’s more like the later Harry Potters, where the ruling Ministry of Magic is clearly paranoid, regressive, dictatorial and corrupt, and many who have been supporting or appeasing them have been wilfully blind, and it’s up to the eyes-wide-open students, Giants & other outcast races, and exiled good wizards to band together to out and oust the evil Harper-mort back to the mean-spirited depths from whence he came.

      • Andrew says:

Wanker? Why the name calling? “What do you do when your kids is a brat?”

        • Namesake says:

Hey, if you don’t want to be regarded and labelled as a condescending, patronizing jerk, don’t make insulting, condescending, patronizing analogies; the only brat I see here is you, with those remarks. And just in case you’re being more obtuse than disingenuous, and are genuinely taken aback by my calling a spade a spade, consider this: it’s _not_ Ingnatieff or (most of) the Liberal MPs who are driving this coalition talk cuz they’re tired of sitting at the kiddy table, or even party members. Most of them are trying to _squelch_ it! It’s the voters & concerned citizens. Up to 2/3rds of us are disgusted, appalled, embarassed, & outraged by how what is little more than a fringe party has been able to systematically undo so much of what we hold dear about this country, and we want to stop it before it goes much further. The Harper-Cons are like squatters destroying our property, and by “our” I don’t mean Liberals, but (at least 2/3ds of) Canadians.

          • Andrew says:

Intelligent discourse cannot occur in an environment of name calling. I see that you don’t understand that. Shall I suggest an anger management class?

  5. James Smith says:

I just don’t get it. Iggy seems to keep being handed opportunities to make a bold move, & he keeps turning these opportunities into yet another example of his inability to connect with Canadians.
    WTF?
As it seems a coalition is gaining more popularity with Canadians, Iggy should be able to turn trend this into at the very least some minor victory on some issue – like this crazy budget. But no, we get zilch.
A friendly reminder to all of Iggy’s fans (of whom I have counted myself) When asked, Canadians will (almost)always say they don’t want an election- get over it!
This is the business you’ve chosen, to get elected, the way you do that is by having what again?

  6. Big Guy says:

Iggy hasnt got the balls to lead a party or become Prime Minister
