—Hero of War
My kids and I all adore Rise Against – but it was my sons who introduced me to ‘Hero of War.’ I think I’ve posted this before, but it never ceases to be powerful. Or salient.

“Sometime they’ll give a war and nobody will come.” (Carl Sandburg)
I agree powerful, but not so much relevant – have you read the lyrics and do you remotely think they apply to our soldiers?
No, of course not. I assume he’s singing about the US experience, don’t you?
Jeezuz Murphy this is a powerful tune.
Isn’t “adore” kind of an odd word to use when proclaiming your fandom for a punk band?
The first time I heard Hero of War it took me two days to stop sing/hum/whistling it. Damn you.
Was posting the video again just ironic timing or during your NYT perusing today did you happen across the Robert Mackey posting in “The Lede”? An intelligence analyst was arrested for allegedly leaking “classified” helicopter gunship video which proved the U.S. military was hiding the truth behind the killings of two Reuters journalists reporters plus many others. I looked at that video again and haven’t been able to get it, or the song, out of my head all day.

I heard every word, and the pain never goes away.
