More Rob Ford interview fun!

Animated, too! My Lord, it’s not going to be a good four years – but it’s going to be funny!

  1. Ronald O'Dowd says:

    Warren,

When you said funny, I couldn’t help but think depressing.

  2. Lance says:

    *SIGH* Okay, you’re obssessing now…….

    • Warren says:

      It’s funny – he’s funny!

I don’t think anything will get done in the city for the next four years. But there’ll be no shortage of laughter, which can only be a good thing.

  3. Will M. says:

    Mayor Matt Foley

  4. Jan says:

    New from Playmobil – Torontland.

  5. James Bow says:

I’d be interested in your thoughts about how the first meeting between Ford and McGuinty goes, especially with regard to Transit City. I’ll give both men a lot of credit for this: they appear to be trying to tone down the rhetoric and offer olive branches to each other.

Given that the province is paying for the full cost of the Eglinton LRT subway and (I think) 66% of the Sheppard East LRT (with the feds picking up the remaining third), and given that construction is already started, I don’t see McGuinty calling a halt to anything, so how does Ford save face?

One option I see is with the Finch West LRT. That wasn’t in Ford’s plan, and it’s nowhere near as far along. McGuinty could decide to defer it and route the money towards extending the Sheppard subway from Yonge to Downsview. Your thoughts?

    Reality check:

According to pollsters, 1/3 of of Canadians polled believe that our recent UN Security Council rejection was MIchael Ignatieff’s fault i.e. they bought into the CPC propaganda.

    A BIG LIE.

Anyone familiar with (and with valuable time on their hands to read almost every major newspaper and to look behind the CPC talking points) what really happened at the UN knows that MI’s comments had nothing to do with the outcome.

Rob Ford espoused a simplistic, misleading, yet appealing BIG LIE about what he would/ could do.

Lesson: You repeat a lie / BS enough, ordinary people ( i.e. not unionized /benefits /pension protected) who are too busy and truly exhausted ( getting home from an oppressive workplace, driving kids to hockey/ soccer/skating/ brownies, etc.) to look behind the “official line/ agitprop” will buy into the BIG LIE/BS.

    What to do?!

    • JH says:

Steven – what you should do is believe every word that comes out of an NDP or Liberal mouth and accept as bible their talking points.
Obviously the left have a lock on the truth – believe in them unwaveringly and trust no others.

      • Steven says:

        Thanks JH.

I forgot to mention that almost 1/4 of American voters believe that Prsident Obama is a foreign-born Muslim, thanks in no small measure to the Big-lying Teabaggers and FoxNews Blowhards.

P.S. As to the NDP, I forgot to give credit to how much their (and their public service union executives’) habitual entitled, sanctimonious attitude as reflected by their candidates ( Miller, Pnatalone, Fletcher, etc.) helped drive right-thinking people to vote in the opposite direction for somenone like Ford.

    • Namesake says:

Looks like we have to try to do whatever Obama & Nenshi did to bypass the traditional media and reach youth voters.

Frank Graves was just on P&P explaining that’s what was behind Ford’s win & the new bounce in the federal poll: the _older_, um, actual voters are all wound up by the fulminating headlines,

…which (and this is me, now, not Graves) younger people aren’t just tuning out but aren’t even tuning into in the first place, any more.

So progressives have somehow got to reach them where they live some other way, to speak honestly to them about why they should give a damn and not leave everything to the manipulators & angry fear-mongers to run and ruin as they will.

Too bad is wasn’t Jon Stewart fleeing to Canada for asylum instead of Randy Quaalude.

  7. jay says:

On almost every question he has received post-election about his promises, Mr. Ford has referred the questioner to the McGuinty government. He’s already reneging and he hasn’t even been sworn in yet.

  8. J. Coates says:

Warren, please come back from Tau Ceti, we miss you. Elections do matter, especially IF YOU WIN THEM. That matters even more than campaigns.
Rightly or wrongly, the esteemed voters in TO made their thoughts known. Rather than voting for a couple of dog whistles, they took a chance, just like Calgary voters. Only time will tell.
I will bet you my cat, Whisper, that he does a good job. I have nothing to lose, the little bugger is tearing my couch to shreds.
By the by, can you please write a sequel to “Party Favours?” You seem to have a knack for fiction writing. Grin…….
