And so endeth the year…

…with my opining being quoted in no less than The Economist! The Economist, don’t you know!

This European model would be unpalatable to those Canadians who fear that they would have to adopt American policies. One strategist for the opposition Liberal Party has already proposed that they run ads similar to those used during the 1988 national election campaign when the main issue was whether to adopt a free trade agreement with the US. The ads featured an American trade negotiator erasing the border with Canada.

Okay, so they don’t actually name me, but I’ll take what I can get.

Anyway. A sincere thanks to all of your who regularly comment here, or those who send along ideas and links and whatnot – or those who just lurk out there in the Internet ether, and read.  May you all have a way better 2011 than my 2010 was.  Way.

Now, Happy New Year!  And don’t drink and drive!

Interesting that the Liberals would consider using the same failed strategy as 1988 with those ads. the PCs were able to secure a second majority even with the Liberals and NDP trying to Canadians about the free trade bogeyman. None of the apocalyptic predictions came to pass as will probably be true of this deal should it come to fruition

As a loyal lurker, I’d like to wish you WK and all the posters, a reasonably good new year. We don’t want to expect too much do we?

Best wishes for the new year, WK. Just remember, though, that we are not your family. We do not think about you everyday. We are just dropping by as we do in lots of other places. If your blog ends, our lives won’t end. Just so you know what’s important and what isn’t …. best of luck and good health in the new year.

    • Cher Visiteur: Something has been bothering me about your response. From a purely logical standpoint, your are irrefutably correct. I do not think of Warren Kinsella everyday. And I, like you, just drop by at purely sporadic intervals. And my life, like yours, will not end if this blog packs it in. Thank you for reminding us what’s important and what is not. But you forgot something. Life is not an exclusively logical process. Life, unless you are a recluse, involves interaction with other humans. What about respect? What about community? I have never met WK. But if I did I would thank him for this blog and for his honesty. Love him or hate him, he hangs it all out there. He takes risks. And that is worthy of respect. We know where he stands. We even know his name. Hey, what’s your name?

All the best for 2011 WK! A safe and prosperous new years to you and yours.

…and thanks for providing us lurkati with your rivetting blog. Where else could we find punk and politics intertwined like this?

Happy New Year to you too Warren. I appreciate the discussion here for it’s quick pace and it’s lack of tabloid trash talk that’s thick on some other political blogs.

Me, I’m glad 2010 is gone…. hard for me too. While I have not much, I hold on to hope. I know it exits as sure as I have today.

May this New Year be better for you too Warren, may you find hope and life to the full.
Happy New Year to you and all who visit this blog!

Bonne et heureuse année Warren. As a “senior” reader of your blog, please allow me to say that I thoroughly enjoy it. As for heartbreaks and challenges of the past year, having been there to an extent myself, believe me when I say there is light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. Courage mon ami and keep up the good work.

Warren may face constant attack from every faction of the political spectrum; but there’s one thing you have to say about him, he’s so honest it hurts.
