Better in a box of crackerjacks

Check this out: two eldest sons and I were working on their homework yesterday, pre-hockey game.  One of them pulls out a big Cadbury Dairy Milk bar he bought at a convenience store near the Distillery District.  Takes a chunk out of it, peels back the wrapper, and this what he sees.

It’s kind of funny, but it also got us wondering about what else may be tumbling out of Cadbury workers’ pockets into the big vats of chocolate.  Any suggestions about what to do?

Return it and tell them you wanted the one with the $50 in it.

p.s. Is the Toronto Sun still in bizzo, the website isn’t working.

“…….what else may be tumbling out of Cadbury workers? pockets into the big vats of chocolate…….”

I shudder to imagine. At least it made it past the chocolate mould part and into packaging phase.

I’m betting that if you bring it their attention they will give you a bunch of coupons for some of their products by way of compensation. I complained to Lays when I bought one of their large bags of Baked Lays Salt&Vinegar chips and found a huge rock-like chunk the size of a baseball of what was condensed flavouring. I sent the bag and contents to them with a letter of compaint and voila, a whole wack of chip coupons.

My immediate thought was that this was something ala Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. More seriously, perhaps you can report the bar code (or other identification on the chocolate bar) to Cadbury and alert them to what you found. They then might be able to find out the time/factory from which it was made. This all just a guess though.

Well, it’s no Golden Ticket, but still …

I’d contact Cadbury, and let them know they have a quality control issue. Perhaps they’ll reward you in chocolate.

Same thing happened to me, except it was a chip of wood in a bottle of beer. That’s why I never drink Blue anymore.

Not near as bad as finding a big finger nail clipping in a bottle of Big Rock McNallys Extra Ale. I didn’t even get a replacement from them. Their rep thought it was quite funny. Fortunately Big Rock isn’t the only craft brewery in Calgary.

    Did you eat it?

Those are really good bars…were. It is known as Cadbury Dairy Milk, not Daisy

Send them a tweet (@DairyMilkCanada) bet they’d love to hear the story…

a buddy of mine got a cockroach in a pizza slice the other day!

Don’t think that fell out in the chocolate vats.

However you should notify the head office, they should be made aware that it looks like someone was tampering with their line.
Because it look like this was placed on the bar during the molding

This should have also been picked up during the quality and inspection.

All of those bars are weighed so this bar should have been defective.

Well, for what it’s worth, this particular case is a packaging issue and not a production issue so it’s got to be safe to eat. Anyhow, as Mike L above says, contact them with the bar code so they know precisely where & what time this happened. Also, to quibble ( I do quite like Cadbury’s chocolate* you see), it’s called Dairy Milk, not Daisy Milk (though I know why you auto-typed Daisy.)

*except Cream Eggs. Gross, they make me nauseous.

Next time: Cote d’Or. Made in Belgium and yes, available in Canada.

with this being particularly boring news week I’d have some fun and well, pull together a bit of a news item. Maybe the some of our daily newspapers could take a hint from Cadbury and pay US to read them (use their product0:-) It’s one of those novelty stories that would be more interesting than, oh, I don’t know……politics:-)

People like to lose their isht about stuff like this……..but it happens, and nobody gets hurt.

I know someone who had something similar happen to their Oh Henry bar. They took pics and sent a letter to the company……….they got a big ol’ box of candy bars for compensation. Seems fair to me.

I was eating pizza. There was a lump. I took it out of my mouth and put it in an ashtray without really looking at it. Later I noticed the used bandage in the ashtray. I got $400.00 US back in the days when $400.00 US was real money.

P.S. The funny little codes that must be copied to participate in situations like this can be problematic when one is colour blind.
