4 am, the scene at Pearson

Literally a thousand people – many with little kids – lined up for hours for a customs agent. What a frigging joke.

There aren’t any Con votes in this room, that’s for damn sure.

We’re just about to leave for our sixth March Break Trip to Florida in eight or nine years. Flew once, drove the others. Yes, the drive can be a grind, yes, you need at least twelve days to have a week at destination, yes, the kids have to be good travellers and yes, it takes planning to avoid city rush hours, etc., but there are also lots of advantages–save money, enjoy new food and scenery, short side trips, take what you want, etc. easy at the border. The one time we flew (drive Ottawa-Syracuse, fly Syracuse-Florida with one connection), we were much more stressed and grumpy than when we drove, and that was with all the flights being pretty much on time.

Funny, I had the identical line-up in January coming back from Mexico. Looks like the same people too.

When happened to “Respect for Travellers”-we need Ford on this 😉

There are ways to avoid immigration line ups, you should do some research. The most we’ve spent in a ruckus like this is about 10 minutes.

  4. Kyle Mac says:

This is a customs line – there is no amount of research that allows you to avoid one when returning to Canada.

Could be worse. Could be Heathrow.

This why I fly out of Buffalo, cheaper and no line ups.

Another reason I don’t fly anymore. Of course I say that, but Day Two of my annual Florida drive is always where I eat my words.

Have you ever flown out of Rochester, NY? We did last time, and would do it again. Flew direct to Orlando, cheaper, with no lines. And the airport was surprisingly nice.
