TORONTO – Premier Dalton McGuinty is taking aim at the Progressive Conservatives’ latest campaign promises, saying health care has never been one of their priorities.

McGuinty says he’s intrigued by Leader Tim Hudak’s pledge to boost spending on health care by $6.1 billion over four years if he becomes premier after the fall election, since he’s never once asked the premier a health-care question in the Legislature.

He says Ontarians should look at the Tories’ record on health care if they really want to know where they stand.

McGuinty also says he doesn’t see how Hudak plans to rustle up the $12 billion dollars needed to fund both his health and energy promises.

He adds he’s pleased Hudak now says he’ll keep the HST and health premium if elected since it shows how important those initiatives are.

That’s especially true, McGuinty adds, given that Hudak has railed against both of those policies for years.

Is McDaddy planning a career as a journalist after the election? When did he get the exclusive interview with WhoDat? And why wasn’t he doing his job AS THE LEADER OF THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO instead of wasting yet another day as a cub reporter…

“never once asked the premier a health-care question in the Legislature.”

this is hilarious! it’s the same comeback the CPC used against Ignatieff and the LPOC. I think I know where Dalton’s getting his material:-)

Now Hudak is just making it up as he goes along. He just pulled a figure straight out of his nether regions. He can’t fund what he is promising, and he knows it.

He also knows, and Ontarians know, that when the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party was last in power, they fired 6,200 nurses, closed 28 hospitals, cut $650 million from hospitals and created no new medical school spaces. When the McGuinty Liberals recently reduced generic drug costs, Hudak’s PCs fought against it all the way – the Ontario PCs care about their rich friends in big pharma, not ordinary Ontarians struggling to pay for their medicines.

Since 2003, the McGuinty Liberals have hired more than 10,000 nurses, have opened 18 new hospitals, have invested $5.4 billion in hospitals, expanded medical spaces by 38% and for the first time in Ontario history have started measuring and improving wait times for medical procedures.

The McGuinty Liberals are moving Ontario forward. Hudak’s PCs want to take Ontario backward. Ontarians are not fooled by Hudak’s false promises.

Local news and paper jam packed with stuff like this and lots of ticked off folks re: wind turbines. On energy + school closures (not even mentioning healthcare) McGuinty’s fighting a battle.

Tim Hudak should borrow ideas from this gal. She’s got it right on soooo many levels.

During Bob Rae’s stint as Ontario premier didn’t he pay universities to not train doctors?
