If you are a Liberal, read James Bowie

In fact, if you aren’t a Liberal, you should read him, too.

Our former Daisy colleague has some very wise words for you to ponder, and debate.  They can be found right here.

Would your post below be breaking rule number 2?

  2. Mike says:

Do the same rules hold true at the Provincial Level in Ontario?

  3. Amit Singh says:

As a Young Liberal, I completely agree with the fact in allowing the YLC to have more exposure. The commission is a first thought in times of an election campaign for its volunteer and intellectual resources, but falls as nothing more of an afterthought when the party heads to Ottawa. The Young Liberals deserve to have a seat at the table, and our president heard. But sadly the party is pre-‘occupied’ with more important matters.

  4. Cath says:

Yep, James Bowie and his words are inspiring no matter what party one supports. Perhaps he is just the type of person to lead strongly toward the new look and feel of the LPOC?

I like the item he writes about having fun with Canadian politics – that’s seriously missing – except on some “not-a-blogs” where one can chat about KD, dogs, Ape and stuff.

  5. Jane says:

I really think someone should write that “fun” book on the election. The title? Why #elxn41 of course.

  6. Sean says:

    well done!

  7. Greg says:

Hmmmm interesting point Chris. But, I doubt the fingerpointing and self destcution of the LPOC will end any time soon.

  8. W.B. says:

Bowie revealed everything that’s wrong with the Liberal party when he took a cheap shot of Mary Ellen Brosseau in suggesting that she debate some hot shot young liberal kid whose name i never heard before.

Although Liberals like to ridicule her and the Ottawa media (equally out of touch with Canadians) wanted to pile on, I think a lot of people are rooting for her .But Bowie and most Liberals don’t get it. She’s a 17 year old single mom, faces a life changing crisis, keeps the kid, gets a job, work to raise him, he’s 10 and doing OK and she still works for living. WOW what a concept for these pro politicos with their fancy suits and glib answers..

Got news for Bowie. She just has to tell her life story in her own words, honestly and sincerely, and she beats any “talking points” half educated up and comer in the young Liberals.

I wrote many comments supporting Ignatieff on these sites during the campaign because I thought he really “got it”. The need to connect with real people, people like this Las Vegas girl. Don’t demean a hard working single mom by suggesting she get involved in some phony debate with some semi pro fast talking Liberal huckster.

Oh, yes. And harping on the Quebec caucus too. It truly astonishes me. Where do Liberals think they are going to get their votes in Quebec from, exactly? ESPECIALLY after the demise of the Bloc. From the Quebec right?

  9. Nuna D. Above says:

Bowie doesn’t once mention western Canada, but does cling to the Trudeau era themes of national unity and bilingualism. We just went through the last federal election where Quebec matters much, and the Conservatives won a majority without Quebec.
One Liberal strategist writing in the Globe and Mail was ready to write off Quebec by abolishing marketing boards for dairy products and promoting the savings to Canadian families. That type of thinking, aiming for the majority in Ontario and the west, is the future for Liberals.

    • Mandos says:

And by “writing off” Quebec you are going to prevent a yes vote…how? If you think that the defeat of the Bloc means that the sovereignty movement has been vanquished, you’ve got another thing coming. Does anyone here read French? Read the French language media?
