Apps is determined to wreck what is left of the Liberal Party of Canada. The Caucus and the Executive need to take action. Every time he appeared on Power and Politics, he lost us 100,000 votes. He has to go, now.
It’s a bit late to try to shut him up, he’s wrecked his havoc. How come nobody checked him hard when he lured Ignatieff with a promise of an easy climb to the top? How come the party allowed the whole undemocratic leadership sham play out with nary a whimper?
I’m not a Liberal but I am pissed to have the NDP as Official Opposition. It’s scary.
Does anyone think the Liberals would have come to this degree of destruction had they chosen even Dom LeBlanc as leader?
I’m starting to think that Mr. Apps is more interested in hearing himself speak than he is in rebuilding the party. You almost get the sense he’s in it for the status, and power the position brings than for the desire to get his hands dirty and run the partly like well oiled business should. When the most popular person in your party is the party president who presided over the largest loss in party history and is running around saying they’ve got all the answers you know things are not going well.
He needs to do the honorable thing and not run for reelection and allow party members to select someone new.
so who are those backing Apps to stay on? Start a list and you’ve started to rebuild because in that list alone you’ll know who NOT to invite to have anything to do with a new party vision – or new party, period.
So on June 9, 2011 – down the street from The Empire Club host your own “rebuild” for the future of the LPOC at a pub down the street. Give Liberals an alternative to the usual. Shhhh…don’t tell anyone.
I would be on board with this. We could meet at the Jack Astors. This would be just as much to hear from other Liberals as it would be to not pay 70 bucks I don’t have (my political donations went out the door during the election to people who were more comfortable talking to other Liberals at their door, not at the Royal york).
So who would actually be attending this event? If they’re serious about shutting Mr Apps up they should boycott the speech en masse and then let someone close make the quiet phone call to the soon to be (hopefully) ex president.
Cripes I couldn’t believe it when Michael Ignatieff didn’t resign until the next day. This is really something.
Start a campaign to discourage anyone and everyone from buying tix and showing up. If you achieve visible success at this, one would expect he’ll resign on his own and if not, will be given a push out the door, finally.
I know its early days but this rebuilding effort certainly is going well, isn’t it?
Why do people keep picking on Alf Apps for the liberal fiasco? What about Peter Donolo? i thought he was supposed to be the great miracle worker who had all these BIG PLANS to drive NDP support to “less than 10%” of the vote – that sure didn’t happen!
If I were member I couldn’t afford this right now. Who can?
Start that list because that’s going to be your party’s drag…something about old dogs, new tricks.
Perhaps the root of Liberal’s current standing is not only because of Apps. Perhaps all of this open infighting and jockeying for position has also turned off Canadians. Liberals may need to dump Apps. But, they also need to dump the attitude and ego and find some humility. It starts by working together, not against each other. Old habits die hard, I suppose.
I just want to get this straight. We can’t have a biennial this year because supporters are tapped. Be we can continue to have fundraisers for the Toronto elites by the Toronto elites? I hope his firm buys a lot of tickets or this will be one embarassing evening for Apps and his 12 friends.
The only way to get rid of this guy is to defeat him on June 18th and defeat his amendments to the constitution. A document that was formed by the members of the Liberal Party after years of hard work and careful deliberation. It ain’t perfect, but it’s ours to behold.
either the Toronto Elite are in charge or the grass roots are – if the grass roots had of won out a LONG time ago I might have remained a Liberal supporter but that the Elites seem to call the shots sent me packing to the Conservatives.
I suspect that Apps is just trying to save face. It would be humiliating to resign at this low point. Perhaps he is just waiting for a decent interval before he moves on. Not that the party can afford to give him that decent interval. He seems like one of those gamblers that loses a ton of money but can’t pull himself away from the table until he wins back some of the money he lost, only to lose a ton more.
Can’t wait to see the next one. Yes Sir, he/she’s out there somewhere on Bay Street, high off the ground in some stodgy law firm, aloof and detached from the real world just waiting for the anointment.
And you wonder how the Conservatives & NDP did so well…
Anyway to fire the guy. He needs to be sent to the unemployment line ASAP. I am sure many former Liberal MPs and staffers who are now unemployed and didn’t do all the stupid things he did would agree with this.

Let me get this straight. You think the NDP in opposition is scary. Any thoughts on a Harper majority? That’s what keeps me up at night.
You should try Ambien for that insomnia problem. It’s Charlie Sheen approved.

How do we get him to step down…. he is trying to run the party himself.
Why do people keep picking on Alf Apps for the liberal fiasco? What about Peter Donolo? i thought he was supposed to be the great miracle worker who had all these BIG PLANS to drive NDP support to “less than 10%” of the vote – that sure didn’t happen!
Good question.
It will be interesting to see how many people show up to hear this guy.

Haing said all that. Alf Apps must go. He’s a power mongering ass. Is that open enough for Canadians to hear.
Holly S*** Warren, don’t you see man; it is Planet of the Apps
“Beware the beast … for he is the Devil’s pawn…. Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death.”
I’m really upset about this. He’s wearing my tie!
Why would anyone pay 60 or 70 dollars to hear the Apponator? Why pay even 60 or 70 cents to hear that jackass?
Alfred K. Apps, would you PLEASE GO NOW?

So the contact phone number is the Empire Club. I guess it is not a Liberal Party fundraiser then.

Every time I get an email from Apps, I respond by emailing him: When are you going to resign? How do we get rid of this President?
Yes, they sure know how to pick the Liberal Party President.
How can you forget the last one:
