This is the classic scenario unfolding, where the moneyed far-right and their operatives segment the population, identifying those with little enough education, intelligence and opportunities to know any better, and telling them that their lot is the fault of another population segment. Importantly, this right-wing cabal positions itself as the only true voice of the disaffected group, and thereby retains control of them, by feeding them disinformation. Franco did it, Mussolini did it, and so did that other guy.
When Warren boldly suggests that anyone speaks for the far right, other than the Sun cooz network, he undermines their control of the messaging received by Mr. Harper’s supporters – the sub-24% , who evidently remain semi-literate and intellectually lazy enough to pay Mr. Bonokoski to write such nonsense.
Warren, when they start to disown you, you know their confidence is slipping.

When I saw that column, I knew I wouldn’t have to wait long to see a reaction here. That column was a hard read because I don’t suffer stupidity well, and that column was really stupid.
Your post is spot on, JStanton, and, if I may add, I think the dumbing-down of our kids in public schools has a lot to do with it.

I think when folks talk about the media being left, they are referring primarily to the dandy lions of the Ottawa Press Gallery plus the hosts and paid pundit prognosticators on QP, P&P and PP.
