In today’s Sun: don’t worry, be happy

“Even the covers on the March and June budgets are identical. The budget lockup could have been done in less time than it takes to sing the national anthem, frankly.

Missing: Anything for the province that gave the Tories their majority, Ontario. If anything, the budget’s silence on Ontario’s priorities — like health care — provided fodder for Premier Dalton McGuinty, facing re-election in a few months.”

I wouldn’t be so sure about the little PQ revolt meaning the Liberals will be a shoe-in for reelection.

I think it’s more likely that the 3 of them know that it was tying himself to the PQ/Marois so strongly that resulted in Duceppe’s downfall, and that no one likes Charest or the Liberals any better, so they’ll go out and form their own, new separatist party hoping to pull an NDP on the provincial level. It may even work.

  2. Ottawacon says:

Perhaps their read is that McGuinty is out of touch with the priorities the Ontario electorate is going to vote on?

  3. Liz J says:

Health care and education are provincial responsibilities. The Feds can transfer funds to the provinces for specific things but the provinces play their own games with those funds.

BTW, Dalton’s not looking too good, political leaders rarely recover from such low polling numbers.

you sound like one of those arrogant conservatives. You know the type – bitch, complain, bitch, complain – typical know-it-all
      And you’re an expert because…….?

    • Attack! says:

Right On Liz! Said it better than I could!

      • Attack! says:

cute, wassup, but the fact remains, you weaseled out of being called on being a tiresome old relic by pretending to be a 20 year old, and now you’re just being a juvenile twerp by posting under my handle.

        • Attack! says:

And furthermore, I agree with what Liz posted, especially the part about Dalton not looking too good. He probably won’t recover by the fall.

  4. Joe says:

I’m quite certain that Dalton will face the electorate before Harper and since health care is a provincial matter……

  5. Jon Adams says:

I’m really starting to come around to the Tory position.

I think Harper did exactly what he said he would do during the campaign. That can only help Hudak in October. McGuinty will need real, substantive policies to address the debt & deficit if he is going to have any chance in the fall.

  6. Tiger says:

Ontario voters don’t think like Ontarians, nationally.

We’re like that guy in “The Good Shepherd” — “What do we have? We have Canada. The rest of you are just visiting.”

I’m waiting for McGuinty’s platform and advertising — this fall’s election is going to be a barnburner. Really fun to watch.

  7. Africon says:

I am certainly no expert especially on the Quebec voter ( is anyone? ) but I would be very interested in the views of the amassed “experts” here as to the potential if the the NDP creating a Provincial party and making another run for the Quebec voter’s affection.
