Tea Party Tim, deconstructed

Sorry, that rebuttal is pathetic. McGuinty’s “promise” is divisive.

    • Lord Kitchener says:

People who live and work in Ontario are Ontarians despite what they tell you at your Klan rallys. Here is a good idea, why dont we start a segragated baseball league?

Just as in a chess game ,the one making the ‘second last’mistake wins. And Mcguinty was doing so well too.Now anything he does will be seen as spin. The only thing he can hope for is Ontarians forget this blunder before election day.

Is this (the Liberal deconstruction) really an ad? It has serious production quality issues. If you want to rebut the Hudak ads, at least do so with your own professional ad.

  4. Jelena says:

Well done, Warren. Do the Ontario Liberals plan to air television ads and radio spots debunking Tea Party
Timmy’s absurd claims?. It should be obvious that this is not a polished ad which will air on television or
radio, but instead used for internal OLP use. I sometimes wonder about the IQ of the people who post
    on here.

Tea Party, and Hudak’s race baiting, will be on the front page of just about every newspaper in the province tomorrow.

      • Northbaytrapper says:

If Hudak was smart, he would have had his folks bait the media onto this and let them do the dirty work. He is too reactionary and doesn’t think things through. Let’s see if he improves during the campaign.

  5. I’ll just reiterate what I posted on one of your other blog posts, Warren. I just saw and heard on CP24 Dalton McGuinty explain that this tax-credit would go to businesses that would be willing to help new Canadians who have foreign certification but need Canadian professional certification. My understanding is that the money will not go to Joe’s Pizza so it can receive a subsidy to hire new Canadians over other Canadians. Mr. McGuinty needs to express this clearly tomorrow (Wednesday). Otherwise, any other issue that Mr. McGuinty tries to present will be overshadowed by the tax-credit issue.

I agree with you Skinny Dipper. If you look at other news sites, the plan is already being defined by the WhoDat-ites so McGuinty needs to haul ass on this file.

Personally, I would have preferred tax credits given to employers hiring people who are on social assistance, because once a person has to resort to going on welfare, that person is already dealing with some pretty serious barriers. Older workers who have lost their jobs are far less likely to bounce back quickly, because young workers are preferred over older ones for many reasons (one being that young workers are less aware of their rights).

I can tell you that from personal experience.

I also know, from my own experience, that business owned by ‘ethic’ groups (for want of better terminology), tend to hire from within their own groups…I have been passed over for a less-experienced younger person or one of the employers’ own demographic more times than I care to remember…

…aw, damn. From where I sit, this tax credit idea is horribly flawed. I’m afraid this is going to hurt the campaign, Mr. K.

      Badly.

What is most ironic is that this is the same group of people that shamelessly pandered to every ethinic minority in the federal election three months ago. I’ve seen a federal MP weigh in on this, (Dean Del Mastro,) and he goes right along with Hudak. However, let more fed say things. Ontarians have always preferred a different government at Queen’s Park than in Ottawa, so federal “help” may backfire.

What a brilliant dogwhistle. A small tax credit to put in the pocket of GTA candidates when they talk to new Canadian communities and maybe get some mileage out of a Tory backbencher muttering about immigrants. Instead, Hudak faceplants directly into it and tries to build a campaign on crass anti-immigrant rhetoric when he’s supposed to be marching deep into Toronto to win a majority. At this point I think McGuinty stays on as Premier unless Andrea Horwath takes up the use of a cane.
