“Frigging”

That’s the word Tim Hudak just used in his first press conference since the election.

I don’t think I have ever heard a leader of a political party say such a thing at a press conference, have you?

Either way, it certainly shows Tim Hudak is one classy, classy guy. Next thing you know, he’ll start defaming foreigners and gays.

Oh, wait.

He also said “damn” on election night. Tim Hudak has a potty mouth.

  2. Saying “frigging” is like the least offensive offensive thing he’s said or done, methinks.

And it depends on context. Like maybe if he said “I don’t know what I was frigging thinking with the homophobia and xenophobia, I’m so frigging sorry,” that’d be okay.

But meh. If only conservatives in Alberta were so willing to defame themselves as well as Hudak. Like say getting drunk, wandering into a homeless shelter, and tell its occupants to get a job, like Ralph Klein did…

… Sometimes I’m ashamed to be Albertan.

Maybe it’s a generational thing, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep if politicians began using the very occasional minced oath or even curse, providing the context is informal and not used in a derisive manner. I agree with Carlos that this is the least offensive thing Hudak has said a while, and wouldn’t mind some context as to how this was used. All said and done, it is a little wierd, and why is Hudak only now showing his face again?

Silent Observer maybe it has something to do with the fact that 2 weeks before the election he expected to win a majority government and he’s still not over the fact he wen from that to losing almost outright?

I’ve followed a few elections, and never have I seen the loser drop off of the radar for a week and a half and then reappear to talk about the NFL or hold a press conference I’ve heard nothing about on the news. Did Hudak use frigging to curse McGuinty or his own failure to form government? I seriously have no clue, but checking cbc.ca to see if this was newsworthy to anybody other than Warren

The worst thing about offensive language, especially the universal adjective, is the profound lack of imagination the speaker reveals about himself.

I have to disagree, at least with that as a general proposition. There are some people to whom that applies. But on the other hand, there are great writers, and great works of literature, who/which have used tons of profanity to great literary effect. William Burroughs’ Naked Lunch is one example. A lot of Hunter S. Thompson’s work was the same way, and National Lampoon’s great era in the 1970s.

I just goes to show he a regular guy :eyeroll:

Actually I agree with his sentiment re: the senior citizen left for dead, but I’d expect more eloquence from a want-to-be-and-won’t be leader.

    FUCK Hudak

Tim Hudak is the Devil Incarnate(tm) !!!

Ha! Damn straight. Pulls the thread together, don’t you think?

  14. Margreta Carr says:

I’ve never trusted people who say ridiculous things that they think absolves them of using “language” when clearly the word is a next-of-kin. Like, frigging, forking, and fudge. Can’t even talk about trippy shit like “goose whiskers!’

It’s like vegetarians who spend 30 bucks on a plate of fake “ginger chicken” at Commensal. WTF is that? Just eat chicken. If you want to say fuck, say fuck. Everybody knows what word you meant and you just make yourself look ridiculous.

Just another reason to love Bob Rae. Response to Radwanski’s “What effect will your NDP legacy in Ontario have…”

    “Bullshit.”

    Bit of a turn-on, that.

  15. TokyoJoe says:

    Seriously Margreta?
    Bob Rae a turn-on?
