The leadership of the Jewish Community vs. Progressive leadership

Quote:

Option three, wrote Mr. Adler, is for the Israeli leader to “give the go-ahead for U.S.-based Mossad agents to take out a president deemed unfriendly to Israel in order for the current vice-president to take his place, and forcefully dictate that the United States’ policy includes its helping the Jewish state obliterate its enemies.”…“Yes, you read “three” correctly. Order a hit on a president in order to preserve Israel’s existence. Think about it. If I have thought of this Tom Clancy-type scenario, don’t you think that this almost unfathomable idea has been discussed in Israel’s most inner circles?” he wrote. Options one and two were all-out Israeli attacks on Hezbollah or Iran’s nuclear sites.

This fool deserves to spend a long time in prison for what he wrote, and hopefully will.  Many Jewish organizations are now strongly condemning him for what he wrote, which is good but hardly surprising.  It’s the least they can do.

This extreme case isn’t representative.  But it brought to mind conversations I have had, recently, with three very prominent Jewish liberals.  They said to me, with sadness, that they are part of a dying breed – the Jewish community leader who embraces progressive points of view, and who hasn’t become an uncritical cheerleader for the Conservative and Republican parties.

The leaders of the Jewish community have always been smart.  They have always embraced diversification – they were politically active, and they encouraged their team to get involved with the Conservatives, Liberals or New Democrats (or even the separatists).  In that way, whenever there was a change in government, they could always count on having friends in power.  It was a smart strategy.  It was the right strategy.

Bottom line?  Stephen Harper’s party will eventually lose power, and another party will take its place.  And the Canadian Jewish community – and its “CEO,” whose name I can’t even bring myself to say out loud anymore – will rue the day that they chose to promote only one horse, instead of all of them.

More I have had to say on this subject, here.

This is a fantasy to support a threat.

I think there’s just more of a sharp divide that’s occurring in the Jewish community. The blue wave (in toronto) had an impact north of Eglinton – but lets look at this riding by riding. The highest Jewish density seat is Thornhill. Ok that’s a safe Tory seat from now on. The second highest density seat is St. Pauls. That’s solidly liberal, with the NDP and the Tories fighting it out for second. Outremont is the third highest density seat. I’t s solidly NDP. The NDP also won other seats in Montreal that have strong Jewish constituency. The crux of the problem lies within Israel itself. The mass movement against the “Tycoons” last summer is a positive step forward. When the Israeli population breaks with Liquid (that will happen) over issues like privatization, corporate stooge governments and the need for a lasting peace plan – the Canadian jewish community will move back to their socialist and liberal roots. Then of course there is the young generation. In the US jewish youth are solidly on the left and if anything are finding themselves at odds with Israel; In Canada, that shift may not happen but certainly the “downtown”, Jewish community, which is younger is moving more to embrace left wing and progressive ideals. With Ford, Hudak and Harper – I think they are all digging their own graves. A combination of factors will lead to a break away from the Tories in the next election, IMO.

Adler needs his head checked. I’m not sure how a hit on the President of the United States would help ensure any country’s existence. Still, Adler’s paper has a circulation of 3500 — it’s not as though anyone was listening to his ideas before this. 😛

He needs his head candled AFTER he is arrested. And, his paper may have a very small readership, but unfortunately, the MSM gave this story some legs by blaring it all over the place. I first spotted it on National Newswatch, fer crissakes.

It just take one nutbag with a rifle reading his trash. Just one. And the US, unfortunately, has it’s fair share of those. Just ask Gabrielle Giffords.

I have watched from the sidelines as the once proud and progressive Jewish community has begun to swing to the right. The final straw was when the last of the progressive thinkers, Bernie Farber, left to run as a Liberal. I don’t see much to stem the tide anymore though I hope Jason is right in the end

Interesting that G&M Is the only MSM picking up on this. 1780+ comments so far….

It is not just some extrimist Jewish Americans who are getting a little nuts down in the good ‘Ol U.S. of A.

    Here’s Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas:

“I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People. This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government. Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL. This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT”

I think he should stick to hockey. He knows what he’s doing there.
