What’s your beef with Patriquin?
Fr. de Souza’s columns are bad enough, but sitting through one of his homilies without walking out or mouthing off might be enough to qualify one for heaven. My church in K-town varied (or I turned agnostic briefly) depending on whether he was officiating.
If his version of Catholicism is the right one, hell is probably the better option.
De Souza is running for office? There are plenty of politically outspoken clegy in the catholic church. Running for office crosses the line. De Souza hasn’t.
As for his comments on joe pa. He was the greatest college football coach in history. And hitler built the autobahn. De Souza is completely wrong in supporting paterno even in light of the heinous acts that paterno enabled.
There are many good columnists. There are some good conservative columnists. The there are De Souza and Warren.
You’d have to put a gun to my head to get me to read either one.
Sorry, Warren. Not you. I was referring to the odious David Warren of the Ottawa Citizen.
Damn, I can be insensitive.
David Warren is ‘odious’?
Obviously, he provokes strong reaction from you.
Which, I suppose, is a cardinal sin in Canadian journalism.
Would you care to share any examples of his writing you find ‘odious’.
It’s not that I care about your feelings. It’s just that I like David Warren because he annoys the right kind of people, and I’d enjoy some concrete examples of that.
If anyone chooses to believe in Jewish Fairy Tales…fine that is your problem. But the fact of the matter is that the Catholic Church has been abusing boys for 2000 years. Those of your that choose to support organized pedophilia are complicit in the acts.
As with any sexual abuse…only 10% of the crimes are actually reported. So it is and has been far, far worse then it appears.
But yet, some still choose to go through life with their head up their ass. No Virginia there is no Santa Clause…but there are many deviants that you support.
Is this the same Father De Souza who was in Moose Jaw, SK in the 70s?
Dan Shields, Ottawa
No, Raymond is too young – he graduated from Queen’s in the 1990s. Interestingly, he was a Tory hack back then.
