And people wonder why I would’ve supported a monkey over Furious George in the mayoralty

Wonder no more, etc. etc.

I hear he’s “helping” Bob Rae these days. Explains quite a lot.

    Wait a second…”would’ve”?

Ha, and we got an orangutan instead.

George Smitherman got thrown under the bus when he agreed to run for mayor, although it really wasn’t his fault. I’m glad we are clear on all of this now. Bob Rae’s radar is unfailingly accurate.

    Public-Private-Partnerships at work.

We’re always promised that we’ll gain private efficiency delivering public benefits.

Instead we get public inefficiency, giving away private benefits.

One of those “centrist” ideas that earns a lot of corporate donors.

      Um, no.

PPP works. Projects – hospitals, roads, jails, courthouses, Pan Am Games, etc. – are being delivered on time and on budget. What is more, it doesn’t cost the government a dime until it is completed and completed on time so there is, especially in these times of budgetary constraint, a huge cash flow advantage. To say nothing of carrying the risk of delays and escalating construction costs.

To suggest that there is never any corruption in a wholly government run operation or that this corruption and waste has resulted only because it is a public-private partnership, is to put it extremely politely extremely naive.

Some of us did not wonder.

I voted for George in the Toronto mayoralty race but only to stop Ford. I remember throwing up a little in my mouth as I stood in the booth. The less we here from that man, the better off we are.
