Cullen could still win this thing

Remember: McGuinty came from fourth place to win.

He’ll have to top Topp on 2nd to do it. Cross fingers.

  2. Is he aligned to scoop the majority of Dewar, Ashton and Singh supporters?

    • Michael says:

It seems like Singh was a stalking horse for Mulcair. He got over to the Mulcair area pretty fast after the first ballot results were released. Of all of the candidates Singh has the best chance of bringing his votes with him.

  3. Mulletaur says:

    I think Topp will win.

  4. William says:

    Mulcair in 3 rounds

Expect Harper attack ads 10 mins later.

  5. campbell says:

If Cullen pulls ahead of Topp on 2nd ballot, he may well just pull it off. If not, Cullen’s supporters will likely go to Mulcair on the 4th.

  6. campbell says:

I see Topp pulling ahead for the third ballot, and Mulcair getting back on (Topp) for the fourth.

  7. Class Middle says:

Dalton also benefited from everyone who was eliminated with the exception of Duncan endorsing him. So far the only person to do that has been Singh. Combined with not having the traditional “convention” bubble, I don’t think you can compare the two.

Cullen is done. Vast majority of his second ballot support will go to Mulcair and LPC is now SOL.

  8. Dan says:

As much as I think cooperating with the Liberals would be like wearing an anvil as a lifejacket… I voted for Cullen in the second round, because I support broad based progressive unity in principle, even if I’m against his specific idea in practice. I think it sends a positive message that he came in third.

Mulcair or Topp will both make good leaders. It will probably be Mulcair. Quebec will be safe NDP in 2015.

  9. Dan says:

Changed in 2006. The rule was that affiliated members got 25% of the votes — which included unions, but wasn’t limited to unions. The party hasn’t used that rule for a while.

What? Is the internet not working today, Gord?

  11. frmr disgruntled Con now Happy Lib says:

Yeah, it be fun to see Cullen(who I have a great deal of respect for) win it……if only to see Mulcair’s head explode…….

    • frmr disgruntled Con now Happy Lib says:

Sadly, not meant to be……but it must be fun for him to play king maker…….and we could still see Mulcair’s haad explode yet…….

      • frmr disgruntled Con now Happy Lib says:

Arrrgh!……two more hours, hope the beer is cold, Mr. Kinsella……:)
Appears a Mulcair win is a fait accompli…..

  12. William says:

80% of Cullen’s supporters would have to break for Topp in order for Topp to win in the 4th round.

    Ain’t gonna happen.

  13. Rob says:

Well. That’s it for Cullen. Any last predictions?

  14. George says:

The leftist alliance is dead, boo hoo,

  15. Tim Sullivan says:

This may still turn into a Liberal leadership convention.

I notice on a news site just now an interview with James Moore in which Moore is trashing Mulcair. (James Moore – the guy who was left out in the first Conservative cabinet, but did the Cadman insurance defence and won himself a seat in cabinet – and has been a good lad ever since.)

I am starting to wonder about the strategy of always attacking Harper, the Harper Government, the Harper this and that. I wonder if it is buying into the Conservative startegy of always praising Comrade Hero #1. Would it be more useful to forget ‘Harper’ and go after Conservatives, to define as clearly as possible who they are enriching, and how they are doing it.

  17. frmr disgruntled Con now Happy Lib says:

Moore tows the party line these days, as befits a pretender to the Conservative throne……fortunately for him, he doesnt have the millstone around the neck that the other two wannabe’s, Jason Kenney and John Baird, have.

Nothing appears to stick to “Dear Leader’s” teflon coating, so perhaps youre on to something Dave…..other members of the Harper cabal may not be so blessed…….

  18. frmr disgruntled Con now Happy Lib says:

I hope the Liberals have the bugs worked out of the online voting system before we choose(or some may say “annoint”) our next leader…..Im thinking one person one vote is great, but delegated conventions and paper ballots appear to be a lot faster, and less prone to *&#% up’s……

  19. dave says:

Earlier today I had a bit of disdain for those in the media worried aobut this leadeship thing impinging on the Leaf’s game…but, now that it is getting closer to the Canucks face off, I find my attitude becoming more flexible, -more understanding…

  20. Tim Sullivan says:

    And McGuinty

  21. William says:

Most CPC members lack analytical capacity…and that’s being generous.
