The smartest strategy for the Ontario PCs would just be to let the Liberals govern longer. Harper tried too hard in 2005 to bring down the Martin government.
The longer in power the governing party remains, the easier it is for the opposition to paint the incumbents as being out of touch and corrupt.
It’s all about timing and harnessing the public’s mood to “throw the bums out”.
This is insane. I think opposition parties will be punished by the electorate if they force an election so soon after the last one. McGuinty may not be the most popular guy in Ontario, but I think people will see the NDP and PCs as forcing an unnecessary election.
I can only hope we get rid of this clown and his government, however we just had an election. Not sure if we could stomach another
one so soon. It would seem Toronto needs a little more time to understand what everyone else in the province already knows, this government sucks, hopefully they have heard of Mr. Drummond and his report.
I think the Drummond report is a big factor, not sure if anyone in Toronto has heard of it…….
We all know the province is in terrible shape, the Drummond report displays this in a formal way.
We need another Mike Harris type to get Ontario back on the right path.
Perhaps I’m missing something here, but it seems that if Horwath pulls the plug, her best-case scenario is a reduced Liberal minority with more NDP seats, while if she campaigns really, really hard to make McGuinty look really bad, she runs the risk of premier whodat. Unless she has her head in the clouds and actually thinks she can win, pulling the plug would be ridiculous.
Elections are fun. Bring it on!

I haven’t heard the opposition parties propose anything different. What would they do instead?
