Danielle Smith stands by hater, and hate

Danielle Smith stood by her candidate: “Every single political party has people with strong religious views.

“As long as they keep that in their personal lives, and don’t anticipate that there’s going to be legislation on that, I don’t believe we’re doing anything different than other political parties.”

When asked if there were personal opinions that were beyond the pale for the party, Smith did not directly answer the question, wrote reporter James Woods.

“Look at our party platform,” Smith said. “The things that we focus on are the things on which we agree.

“You see, you can live the way you were born, and if you die the way you were born then you will suffer the rest of eternity in the lake of fire, hell, a place of eternal suffering.”

His logic is as follows: If you live life the way that GOD MADE YOU then you will be tortured for eternity. Redemption only comes to those who determine that GOD MADE A MISTAKE and turn their backs on the way their god made them.

People’s insane interpretations of the intent of their versions of the various imaginary sky deities is quite puzzling to me. And people treat this shit seriously? Good grief, we are fvcking doomed if this is the level of intelligence emanating from the faux-xian whackjobs squatting in the PMO.

I can’t speak for all Canadians on this, (I wish I could in this case) but I want to know who I’m voting for on election day, what their background is, and what they think about issues — essentially what they bring to the table. They are supposed to represent me and the rest of their constituents in government, so what they say and think matters, perhaps even more than the political party platform they run on.

The fact that Danielle Smith is trying to keep such a tight seal on the party message — muzzling candidates with a $1,000 good conduct bond — means that Alberta voters have less information about the personalities within. It’s at times like this I wish political parties didn’t exist at all.

As for Smith defending her wayward candidate’s bigotry and religious fanaticism, there really isn’t a defense. I’m hoping that fair-minded Albertans are paying attention.

Good lord. Wall of text, no paragraph breaks. Forget the content, the style alone is a sign of a nutcase with no business in a position of real responsibility, elected or otherwise.

The components of Edmonton-South West are from electoral districts that have frequently elected Liberals in the past. 308.com puts Wildrose as a relative longshot there. I suspect the party let him stand so they could say they had a full slate and because nobody else wanted to run in a district where Wildrose had no real chance, and nobody in the party bothered asking too many questions (till now anyway). He’s Wildrose’s Ruth-Ellen Brosseau.

Mind you Brosseau cleaned up okay, by all accounts. If Hunsperger somehow makes it to the Assembly, he’ll be much harder to whip into shape.
