Apres lui, le deluge

Jason Kenney? Peter McKay? It is to laugh.

When Harper departs, they’re pooched.

The following article also highlights the fact that the old civil war within the Canadian Conservative establishment
between the intelligent, educated, couth, classy, refined, compassionate, progressive, centrist, urbane, cosmopolitan, Canadian Red Tory-style Conservatives (Joe Clark, Jean Charest, Brian Mulroney, Kim Campbell, Lawrence Cannon,
Jean-Pierre Blackburn, John Tory, Bill Davis, John Robarts, Karen Stinz, Christine Elliot, et al) and the ignorant, common, low class, uncouth, unrefined, social Darwinist, regressive, redneck, rural, blue collar, American Republican-style Conservatives (Preston Manning, Stockwell Day, Rob Anders, Vic Toews, Mike Harris, Rob Ford, Tim Hudak, et all)
will surely re ignite upon Harper’s retirement.

I also believe that even the moderate Blue Tory faction (Steven Harper, Peter MacKay, John Baird, Rob Nicholson, et al) currently steering the CPC, will itself come under attack from the Reform/Alliance, Western Canadian, pickup truck driving, gun loving, tax hating, Bible thumping, racist, sexist, misogynistic, homophobic, anti-Quebec, anti-bilingual, anti-multicultural, anti-immigrant, Protestant supremacist, Anglo-Saxon chauvinist, REDNECK WHTIE TRASH faction.

Can only envy British Conservatives, who have enough self confidence that 91 of them voted against their own government to stop a bad plan for House of Lords reform. Cameron was reduced to yelling at them in the halls.
Maybe we should send our MPs to Westminster on an exchange program to see how parliamentary democracy is done right.

      Warren,

As in any political party, the Conservatives gain in courage against the policies, or even the leader, when they start to seriously dip in the polls. That ain’t now, but it could potentially be tomorrow.

I thought Norquay made an excellent point in that article towards the end. For all the talk in the media about PMSH’s heavy-handed style (and it’s correct in the sense this centralization of power under PMSH has been worse than it had been with previous PMs), the media also goes into a tizzy whenever there’s even a rumour of a caucus member of ANY PARTY disagreeing with the leadership.

    EX:
Leader X is whipping the vote! Heavy handed! Respect the individual MP!

*random MP speaks in general terms about a disagreement with his/her party’s stance

Leader X cant’ control the caucus! Divisions! Why are they so disorganized?!

It will be hard to follow in the footsteps of Avant Moi Le Déluge.

    Maxime Bernier.

    Tiger,

Max has the “right-of-center” economic credentials but the social conservatives would rather experience a collective brain tumor.

Hey, I resemble that remark …. I am a Reform/Alliance, Western Canadian, pickup truck driving, gun loving, tax hating, Protestant, Anglo-Saxon, REDNECK WHTIE TRASH faction formally from Quebec, and bilingual (well … partially).

I suggest that the Liberals who continue to slur those of us that fit this description take a good long look in the mirror, since it appears that you are anti-Western Canada, racist and considering your focus on Women, you may be the one who is misogynistic and a chauvinist …. alternatively a misandrist!
