On way to Batman with littlest guy

Was very, very quiet in that car.

Encouraged him to talk about it, and told him I would never let anyone hurt him or anyone else. Ever.

Advice?

Advice: go see a movie that won’t suck. Seriously, does anyone with the DVD actually watch any parts of The Dark Knight that Heath Ledger isn’t in after the first time.

Seriously? Yes. The new Batman does not suck, unlike the Avengers or that pointless re-hash of Spiderman.
Rather surprised you didn’t enjoy The Dark Knight, even on repeat, non-Heath Ledger scenes.

    Life is an adventure.

    Sometimes shit happens.

    We can’t control the shit.

But we can enjoy the adventure.

Live like every moment is your last.

    Don’t worry, be happy.

    And always be brave.

Tell the people you love that you love them.

    Hold hands.

    Laugh.

Eat popcorn and.or chocolate covered raisins and/or red twizzles.

Say a prayer for those who cannot be out and about with their loved ones.

Lose yourself in the movie and forget about “life”.

I think your advice was good. The worst thing to do is to hide under the bed and never come out. I remember during the Gulf War, Sick Kids Hospital put out info on “How to Talk To Your Kids About War”. One of the points they made was-the War was far away from them, which made them feel safer.

I don’t know how old your youngest is Warren, but I would think twice about subjecting any kid to that crap. You think he hasn’t heard about the shootings?

Yes, I know. You will tell be to bugger off but in worse language.

I lean toward your getting him to talk about it, get a kid to talk and so that kid starts hearing what it sounds like, good step toward working it out.

In my most humble opinion, best not to promise something outside your control: “I would never let anyone hurt him or anyone else. Ever.”

I certainly agree with going on, seeing that movie, if that is what you all want, and encouraging the boy etc etc but some things we cannot control.

Sadly I am not sure you can make that promise. You will not be around forever, and kids, well, kids do things, go places and befriend those they shouldn’t behind your back.

We try out best as parents. Most good ones, anyway. All we can do is teach them well, and hope for the best.

From what you’ve already said to him, it doesn’t sound like you need advice.
