Goth alert

My youngest – blonde-haired, freckled, skateboarder – is into (wait for it) Bauhaus.  And not just the dark British band’s well-known stuff: he’s into B-sides, like ‘Crowds.’

Wow.  From seeing them at the Broken Arms in Ottawa in 1980, playing ‘Double Dare‘ and blowing my mind (such as it then was), to being Dad to a pint-sized Goth-to-be, on the beach in Maine.  Life is strange, among other things.

Makes my heart glad to see another generation discovering great music.
Its amazing how easy it is for kids to get into old bands these days. They hear one song they like and can have the whole catalogue downloaded in minutes.

Good music transcends age and era. I find that rather comforting.

    Rock on!

I wish my kids had good taste and gravitated to the old classics.
Instead they like…shudder….Katy Perry and her brand of ( music?):(
My indoctrinating them with good music had no effect they still chose mainstream candy pop:P

My daughter used to be into the bubblegum crap, too, but then she picked up a guitar….

…she’s teaching herself classic tunes, with a little help from yours truly. She does “Stairway to Heaven’ better than I ever did (sigh…)

…chances are they’ll outgrow it. Meanwhile, check out Saga’s new album, “20/20”. It is a BEAUT!!

Just be glad he’s not into Bieber. As for the blue hair, I have midnight blue hair in my punk days, glad to see it still has some appeal.

Good taste. My 23-year-old guy got heavily into The Beatles. Gotta love our kids…

When I sold off a lot of my vinyl collection I remember a kid paying me 50 bucks for an original pressing of “Mask”. This kid’s parents probably weren’t even married when that album came out. He was tickled pink to have found it for such a great price.

Bauhaus, March Violets, The Sisters of Mercy… this was when Goth was Goth… and I still love it.
