Phony Tony: little lost PC candidate

So, Tony Genco: was a federal Liberal, lost. Became a provincial Conservative, lost. Now he’s running again, although not for the NDP. He’s still a Conservative, although he’s a bit hard to pin down the issues and whatnot.

Thus, this sign. It’s a little hard to make out (perhaps it was snapped by Mayor Ford as he was driving around).  But I can assure you that it is a Conservative sign, and it’s for Phony Tony, the affectionate term we Ontario Liberals have for Tony Genco. There’s just one problem, however.

It’s in the wrong riding. It’s in Thornhill. That’s a problem, because Phony Tony is running in, you know, Vaughan.

Is Phony Tony finally going to win something? Well, I dunno. If there was a by-election taking place in Thornhill, he’d be way out in front.

No way to identify what the sign is and no way to identify where it is. You can do better than this.

ummmmm you should go see an optometrist if that big blue sign in the bottom right corner saying “Tony Genco” that is right in front of a streetlpost with the name of the street “Portage” isn’t visible to you

      • Dan says:

But I will add, that there is a Portage Parkway in Vaughan (runs just north of highway 7) -I don’t know if that is where this picture was taken though

        • W the K - No, not Warren says:

Portage Parkway is in the city of Vaughan between Jane and Chrislea. But 99% of that street is in Thornhill riding. There is only one stoplight intersection – Portage Parkway and Chrislea – in Vaughan riding. And that picture ain’t it. Too many trees.

          • W the K - No, not Warren says:

Yup, Portage Parkway and Jane. Looking south east. In Thornhill riding. The power lines are a giveaway.

Don’t know if he’s taking directions. But if he is- he should at least be taking them down.

  3. Dan says:

Says just as much about the Federal Liberals as it does about Tony Genco.

Can you post the video of Justin Trudeau supporting Tony Genco? Love the Three Musketeer look and him using his acting skills!

  5. Merrill Smith says:

In the last provincial we had bumpf delivered to our door at least twice from the NDP candidate for the riding next door and we’re not close to the boundary. Doubly strange because the NDP holds the riding federally. You’d think they’d know where to send stuff.

and to clarify, here is an electoral district map of thornhill, the google map location is clearly within thornhill.

From the federal Vaughan byelection while running as a Liberal. Holding a campaign event in the riding of Thornhill with Justin Trudeau literally steps from where the picture you have posted.

Funny how this didn’t merit Tony Genco is an idiot post from Warren at the time.

    I’m a douchebag.

  9. Gary says:

Agree, and I’m no fan of the guy.

  10. Thomas Roberts says:

Agree. The sign is just at the border of the Vaughan district, so it makes sense to put one there to capture peoples attention leaving or coming into the area.

    No big whop here.

Picture not taken recently( note the grass is green ).but let’s bad mouth based on stale dated photos

    • Tim Sullivan says:

No, the bad-mouthing is due to Tony Genco being an unreliable ally. I don’t recall him being particularly liked when he was in the Minister’s office when I knew him playing softball.

He was a Liberal and lost the seat. Then, he switches teams. Did he tank the Liberal run in the first place? We won’t know, between Fantino using illegal election worker and Genco’s questionable political acumen and dedication to the task.

Whenever that picture was taken, Tony Genco has it coming, from Liberals, at least. Not sure how well liked he is in the Conservative camp, either. He’s served their purposes for now.
