Star Ontario PC candidate: I’m not going to defend my leader

Some days, I feel sorry for Tim Hudak, the Tea Party North leader. Almost.

Here’s his star candidate in Kitchener-Waterloo, refusing to talk about the guy, much less defend him. Ouch.

Hudak is a millstone around the necks of the Ontario PCs. They should dump him.

  2. Lord Kitchener says:

I liked Eric Davis response — “I am not going to sit here and defend Tim Hudak either!!”

Davis, the OLP, did a great last night, you can tell his motivations for public service are genuine.

The NDP candidate came across as well-prepared, experienced — but she is also seemed arrogant and she smacks of someone who is trying to be a career politician.

The KW Chamber of Commerce debate is tomorrow, and should be a good one – #kitwat

oh and #goons for the physiotherapists coming in from Toronto to hijack the microphone

I have a student at Laurier and word is that the NDP are far out pacing the other two parties in terms of getting to those voting youth. “It’s impossible to turn around here without bumping in to someone stumping for the NPD” (quoted from my student)

      • Lord Kitchener says:

I am sure that the people of Ontario are sleeping well tonight knowing that the future stability of this province (ie increasing health care services and deficit reduction) lay in the hands of some drunken Wilfrid Laurier University freshmen.

If they like NDP so much, do they support Fife bringing in hired guns, when she was on school council, to “facilitate a Public Information Session” with concerned parents who just want to have an appropriate place to send their children each day?

you can link all you want but the NDP have momentum right now. Not so much for the others two. Drunk or not those votes will still count wont they? I don’t like it either but a campaign that didn’t blitz the post-secondaries in KW would be a huge error.

          • Lord Kitchener says:

            Not discrediting your observation.

I would be interested in a poll to see how many students (within a reasonable sample size) that:
            a) know when the date of the byelection is
            b) know the candidates names
            c) how long they have lived in #kitwat and are familiar with local issues (other than what they read about RIM in the Star)
            d) are voting for the NDP cause Jack Layton was, like, totally awesome, dude.

It would be helpful if they realized that Andrea Horwath, nor her proxy whiner Catherine Fife, is the answer for stability in this province.

Last night on the local Kitchener Waterloo newscast they interviewed the candidates from the 3 major parties. Tracey Weiller refused to call her leader by name. Interesting.

  4. Tom says:

A good friend of mine is working hard for Eric Davis. He is apparently very genuine.

Hudak comes an marches in my town’s (Pelham) Canada Day parade every year. It takes all I have (and my wife holding me by the shirt tails) not to get up and start something with him every year. The man infuriates me.

  5. Ted B says:

When you mock him by calling him the “Tea Party North leader”, I think you all owe the English language the respect of putting word “leader” in quotation marks.

  6. Iris Mclean says:

As many have noted, Hudak is the greatest gift the Cons have ever given to the Libs and NDP.

Just for giggles, is there any chance we can see the rest of her answer? While I don’t doubt she doesn’t think the world of Timmy, this clip looks a bit selective and suffering from partisan torquing. All we can ascertain from this video clip is she didn’t want to talk about Hudak in that given moment, which in and of itself leaves her love of the man open to speculation. However, we can’t conclude much beyond that. Someone above said she wouldn’t call her leader by name during an interview. Without a full clip, it’s again simply partisan speculation and spin. Show me context and substantive facts indicating he doesn’t have the love of his candidates and I will believe you (because I’m sure the facts are out there; he’s not a very popular leader).

Warren, there’s a lot to be desired from Hudak. Given all the legitimate issues with Hudak, why are we looking at this 34 second fluff piece? What are we to take from it? Who is this intended to resonate with? I have to say, this video comes off kind of contrived and pretentious. It’s not saying anything we haven’t heard before.

On a personal note, I do hope the Libs win both the ridings up for grabs. It would give the Tories even more reasons to turf Tim.

In case you want to watch Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Debate online tomorrow — here is the info/link to do so:

What will the PC candidate (What is her name?) say to undermine her political figurehead this time? how will the NDP candidate show that she is a entitled politician? Ya gotta tune in to find out!

  9. Mulletaur says:

I’m surprised Ontario PC trolls didn’t show up to defend their leader. Perhaps they aren’t prepared to defend Hudak either.
