From the official Team Hair and Teeth™ archives: to know him is to leave him

From the Kingston Whig-Standard, May 25, 1996. In yesterday lies tomorrow, etc.

“…Liberals insiders say all will not be roses for Kennedy when he shows up at Queen’s Park.

“He’s only been a member of the party for three months and he was talking with and meeting with people about his chances for being party leader before he was elected. That ruffled a few feathers,” said one insider.

“He won’t be getting any breaks in caucus, that’s for damn sure.”

I do hope we are not descending into hairism and hairist comments here. Let he who can no longer comb cast the first split end, etc.

Well, it’s going to be one interesting leadership race…to say the least.

I don’t yet know who I would prefer to see win, but I wonder about this focus on never having lost elections. Jean Chretien once lost the leadership of the Liberal party to John Turner and I’m sure glad that failed candidate came back and ran again when Turner left!

Barack Obama lost his run for congress in the primary.

The Dalton-led Liberals lost an election before they won government.

Being knocked down doesn’t mean you can’t win. Especially if you’ve either shown you can win before or can display how you have learned from it.

I’ve met him twice and he just didn’t seem likeable. Likeability isn’t an absolute necessity for politicians, but boy it sure helps.

I always thought it was interesting that Kennedy gets blamed for Dion, but Bob Rae gets off on that charge. Didn’t Rae also support Dion?
