Grey Cup weekend feels like Rob Ford’s being given his last meal

By Monday noon, his political career could be dead. Fingers crossed.

    Rob Ford’s last meal?

We could be here a while.

Everyone here thought Joe Fontana was done here too….however the gong show continues…

  3. People seem to regard him as a HOAG and legislation maybe required to keep him out of a second term.

  4. Eric Weiss says:

    Good riddance to bad garbage.

  5. Mauserman says:

Mabye Trudeau can join him, seeing his time is just about up as well.

Whatever his last meal may be, I am betting that humble pie will not be on the menu. I just do not really believe that a judge will not bend over backwards to avoid removing the Mayor from office, but if Ford is indeed given the boot, the howls of feigned outrage will be audible across Canada. I think that council elects the new Mayor from amongst their ranks don’t they? I certainly hope it is not the same ridiculous method of replacing a councillor, of appointing someone who never ran for anything. I am pretty sure that the deputy mayor is appointed by the mayor, and is not actually his successor. I am just too lazy to look it up, so perhaps someone knows off hand?

There, I answered my own question, from the CBC article:

      http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2012/11/23/rob-ford-conflict-interest-finding216.html

“If ultimately, after the judicial process is completed, Ford is ordered from office, council has two options on how to replace him. After voting to formally vacate his seat, council would then vote to either appoint a new mayor until the next municipal election or call a byelection for the office of mayor.

If council chooses to appoint a mayor, the appointee need not necessarily be a member of council.

If Ford has not been barred from seeking office after being removed as mayor, he could run in the byelection and again in the subsequent municipal election.

All the power and duties of the mayor’s office while vacant would be conferred on Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday.”

By removing him from office through the judicial process will turn him into a martyr.

If a public official is truly an affront, then he or she can be removed by democratic means.

ARe you arguing for immunity from prosecution for elected officials? That worked really well for Italy now, didn`t it?

I don’t agree, Ford has been getting away with a ton of bad/horrible and very questionable behaviour. If he is let off on this one it will only encourage Ford to do more of the same. He needs a huge slap of reality. This city of not the man child’s private playground. Time to give Ford a hard spanking (yikes! bad image)
