Acts of God, the insurance industry calls them.
Acts of God are events that are beyond human control — like a big earthquake on the West coast, or a big hurricane on the East coast — and for which “no one can be held responsible,” assorted dictionaries tell us.
Except politicians, that is. Politicians, and aspiring politicians, know too well that the reverse is often true: When disaster strikes, politicians know that they can indeed be “held responsible.” If things go to hell in a handbasket — due to anything from a Hurricane Sandy to a Biblical plague of locusts — it can bring a swift end to a politician’s career.
Or, alternatively, send that politician’s fortunes soaring. It all depends. Examples abound.
The growing frustration in NYC and other parts of the coast may actually turn against Obama. Seven more days till getting electricity and running water in many parts of the city, gas shortages, lack of services, etc.
FEMA and the President are to blame for this?……considering the scope of the disaster, Id say the President has handled things exceptionally well…….compared to the idjit George Bush and how things were handled with Hurricane Katrina……anyways its provoked another flip flop by Mitt Romney…….http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/31/paul-krugman-mitt-romney-fema_n_2050113.html
The emails, tweets and Facebook status updates from friends living in NYC and New Jersey, the level of response is not what the media and the White House make it out to be. It is easy to say things have been done “exceptionally well” from the warm comfort of your living room.
Exceptionally well in comparison to George”helluva job Brownie” Bush and the aftermath of Katrina……but I notice you conveniently omitted that……
PS Go fuck yerself….
Why must you become uncivil, when a different side of a story is given?
Hello Warren,
Based on your logic, this is the reason President George W. Bush won re-election?
