Ontario PCs and NDP fear Pupatello

Quote:

“Progressive Conservatives and New Democrats privately confide she would be the most formidable candidate in the next provincial election, expected as early as next spring.”

If others want to boast about selling many memberships in very few ridings, let ’em.

The others might win seats in Toronto. Only Pupatello can win the whole province.

Ask our opponents.

PC and NDP discuss their fears and stir up support for Pupatello, leaving critical observers to wonder ‘which candidate do they actually fear?’ Certainly not the one who’s demonstrated a surprisingly effective and province-wide campaign team.

Wait… they said it privately? It must be true then.

You’re ridiculous. It’s a quote from a news story, citing PC and NDP sources. Are you saying the reporter made it up?

If anyone but Sandra wins, we’re heading to second place or worse. We’re screwed for a decade or more.

And, as I’ve said plenty of times, that’s a ride I don’t plan to take. Someone else can run the war room.

I don’t think it’s ridiculous to suggest that professional politicians might game their opponents race to help elect a candidate they’d prefer to run against. I know they aren’t Liberals, but I hope they’re at least smart enough to try.

And even if the opinion is ridiculous, I don’t think it’s enough to label me ridiculous. Argue with the idea, don’t insult me. Or do, but lose a fan.

I prefer to stay away from absolutes. I think Pups would be good. I prefer Wynne. I think 3 or 4 of the candidates could win without it being a decade long disaster.

I also think it’s worth thinking critically about what political parties ‘leak’ or say in private. If you were working for them, wouldn’t you be playing that game?
