Ikea Monkey’s “gif” to all of us

His “owner” seems a little, um, out there. by the way. She needs to get back to her real estate practice. Or something.

Won’t be so funny or cute or whatever, when Caesar gets here.

You know, I actually feel for this person. From what I understand, the monkey was able to open the car doors and wander freely. As a dog owner, I get what she’s going through – and she’s actually a bit calm, given the stress I’d be under if my dog was seized. I don’t think we should judge her.

She refers to the moneky as her “child” and herself as the monkey’s “mother”. I will go one step further than Warren and say that is whacked.

For those of us who dont have children, and unfortunately never will……..our pets become like our children…….so I dont think of this woman as particularly whacked……I never referred to my dearly departed dog as my child, but I was definately “Daddy” to her…..a little weird I know, but when you are single and childless……they play a greater role in your lives than you can imagine.

I dunno… when our dog has to go out, I’ll tell my son to “let his little brother out for a pee”. Pets are part of the family. I can sympathize with her to some degree.

My gosh….what a cute little fella.

He does look a little frightened though…poor little bugger.

I remember seeing a story on one of those “peta” folks. She had a passle of chickens, and she let them roam around her house at will. What a shit-hole, with chicken shit over every square inch. The stench must have been awful, but the most telling detail of how far “out there” this woman, and folks like her are, was the fact that she had a constant lung infection from all the chicken-shit dust floating around, and she didn’t think it was enough trouble to keep the dirty buggers out of her house.

Some folks like living like an animal..with animals. And some own animals, and think they’re their children.

    Speaking of MOnkeys….

Warren, what do you think of Martin Cauchon throwing his hat into the ring?

Spoken like a true Con, Mr. Halifax……..personally, anyone who has the courage and fortitude to stand for public office, whether that is for city councillor, MP, or leader of a political party, has my admiration and respect……..

Lol.. I’m a Lib, but good one.

      JamesHalifax,

Remember James, monkeys are in the eye of the beholder. One person’s apes are another’s righteous anger brigade. Others may feel as if we are constantly bamboozled by a wide variety of baboons…

I prefer to think of it as the “cachet” of Parliament Hill!

      • JamesHalifax says:

Not to put too fine a point on it….but monkey’s are not apes.

But I do agree with some of your other points. Perhaps Warren can take time away from his collection of food for the needy, and find a moment to deliver a crate of banana’s (or two) to Parliament Hill.

  6. Ted H says:

    Well, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle.

  7. Philippe says:

Poor freigan monkey. Between his current cage & that lunatic’s home, the options aren’t great.

  8. Ren says:

Went to donate blood today and laughed when asked the question about handling or taking care of monkeys. I guess Ikea staff have to take a break from blood donations. So sad.

  9. Jeremy says:

That monkey might have been trying to find the Conservative Party of Canada’s office to apply to work as a fundraising volunteer!

  10. Bruce A says:

You can’t help but love the little guy. The way he waddles, his innocent manner, as he explores a strange world that’s not his. But damn it, he is a monkey and they grow up and become strong and unpredicatable, and then he won’t be cute anymore.

Much like the old Reform Party!

  11. JamesHalifax says:

    Hmmm….

    Irony?

A Party that held many folks who didn’t believe in Evolution, evolved into the Government of Canada.

    • Michael says:

      Much more ironic:

A party who thought government was too big, expanded the civil service.
A party who thought the country was going bankrupt ran put the economy into a structural deficit.
A perty that thought politicians had “gold plated” pension plans is now full of politicians collecting those very same pensions.
A party led by an “economist” failed to see the recession coming, and then denied there was a recession when it got here.

      Now that’s irony. 😉

      • Ronald O'Dowd says:

        Michael,

The fates are a curious lot. The United States has its fiscal cliff with negotiations going well, just swell! We, on the other hand, only have the realistic prospect of an impending recession as a result of Bozo Does Washington In the House of Representatives. Hollywood couldn’t write a script this good.

To the Conservatives I say: better luck with “it” this time. Remember, practice does indeed make perfect.
