—Urgent message from Centre 55 in Toronto’s East End
For years, me and my kids have delivered hampers of food to families in the East End at Christmas. The program is organized by the good folks at Centre 55 (where I was on the board for a long time).
Just got this urgent message from them. If you can help, please do!
“Tonight we ran out of food to pack for the 720 families in need this Christmas. We need canned soups, stews, vegetables, tuna, salmon, macaroni and cheese. Fresh Co at Victoria Park and Gerrard has one of our hamper bins, or you can drop it off at the Centre (on Main, a block or so North of Kingston Road.) We are open 9 – 9. Please help!”
Tomorrow afternoon I’m packing hampers for St V de P in Burlie, is there somewhere else to make a donation; on line perhaps?
416 691 1113 you can make $ donations over the phone using credit cards. Nancy Culver or Cameron Boyle should be able to help those who want to make financial donations. Centre 55 is a charity and will provide a tax deductable receipt. Again, it is a trusted organization and money goes straight to the tummies.
Thanks!
It’s the best Christmas relief program in the City of Toronto and it is honest. I will do everything I can and you had a lot to do with the development of that program and so did your kids. Thank you very much for bringing it to my attention.
Thanks for posting this, Warren, and thanks also for the info from Pipes about how to make donations directly. Much easier to do from where I am, and I always figure the staff are better at picking out food than I am anyway. Have a good holiday everyone.
