I’m guessing that Wynne will win the first ballot and Sandra will finish second. Based on the optics, I assume Takhar and Sousa will bring their delegates over to Pupatello.
It will come down to who can gain the biggest jump on the second ballot. That’s what John C. Courtney says anyways…
Wynne has respect, but not popularity, Kennedy has popularity, but not respect, Pupatello has both. It’ll be a battle.
Pupatello needs to announce some further socio-economic policy proposals before the weekend. She needs to appeal to the social-liberals such as myself, who are sick and tired of the neo-liberal direction taken by the OLP in the past few years. Most grassroots Liberals want the OLP to move leftwards, and outflank the ONDP on social issues. I like Pupatello and believe her to be the best choice, however, I do not want another neo-liberal who will pander to Bay Street and compete with Hudak for who can promise the lowest rate of corporate tax, the most painful spending cuts and the busting of unions. Most grassroots Liberals want the OLP to go back to the leftwards ways of David Peterson. Make some pledges on social spending and reducing poverty, and you will win by a landslide Sandra. A smart Pupatello would pledge to boost rates for
Ontario Works and the Ontario Disability Support Programme, get a better landlord-tenant act in place which protects tenants from unfair rent increases and evictions at a time of mass job loss owing to the global economic recession,
boost funding for homeless shelters and street outreach programmes, and boost funding for immigrant settlement services at a time when Harper has cut such funds federally. Over 150,000 immigrants settle in Ontario each and every year.

If that was the direction she wanted to go she should have announced that earlier in the campaign.
