Raptor shoots self in claw

Ed Davis? Jose Calderon?

Calderon, in particular, had become the heart of the Raptors squad in his eight years with the team. To lose him and Davis – who was much loved by fans, too – is awful.

Question for head office: why didn’t you trade the $23 million dud instead?

    You answered your own question.

I agree Jose was a great leader and an exciting guard to watch. Unfortunately a by-product of salary caps in professional sports is that expiring contracts become more important that the players. Here’s hoping that he will re-sign in the off-season when his contract is up – Detroit is close enough that he can leave his family and residence in Toronto in the interim.

The team will miss Ed Davis’ enthusiasm as well, but you have to trade high. Rudy Gay will be a welcome addition. I think / hope that the ‘$23 million dud’ might be the next to move. Colangello aid that he wasn’t finished trading and the deadline in still 2 1/2 weeks away!

I’ll miss Calderon, too. But, he wasn’t staying after this year……too much money. And they have two starting points. Don’t cry over Ed Davis. If you really watch his game you’ll see lots of fundamental flaws………if he wasn’t a lefty, he wouldn’t get more than 8 minutes a game.

Rudy Gay is the best player in the deal……..the Raptors win it.

And, if you think Bargs is a dud, then don’t expect it’s easy to trade him for something valuable. Why would another GM do that? (Alex Anthopolous notwithstanding…..that guy is a magician.) Btw, I ask that you don’t judge Bargs on this season……small sample size alert……he’s still got a quick release and can score from the entire court, and average 20ppg. Not many can say that. (Now let’s see if Lowry can get him the ball.)
